Google Choked ?

Featured Replies

Is anyone else having an issue using Google & Youtube recently ?

I'm with True in central Bangkok area... each and every time I log in to google.com or google.co.th with True Wifi the service is incredibly slow, all other sites are as quick as they always have been.

Pattaya: I stopped using Chrome some months ago and now use Opera which is better but has recently slowed down also.  YouTube has also recently slowed down and now lags occasionally also.   Not sure whats going on and done all the usual maintenance (cleared caches/cookies browsing history etc) too.

Imagine that. Slow working connections in Thailand.

Both Google and YouTube seem OK for me most of the time. 3BB in central Pattaya.

Me too.  I thought it was a TOT problem.

Can't confirm that it is an all Thailand problem.

My usual benchmark:

select a popular yt music video and download it with a downloader.

Result see here:

ytdown.jpg

5.16 MByte/s ~ 41 Mbit/s

That's close to the max. that I currently have (50/30) and consistent with the display of netspeedmeter in my taskbar during the download and the time it took (approx 25 sec or so).

ToT fiber in the sticks.

Also I haven't noticed ('felt") a slowdown today.

It's just not the only thread with this statement.

Not nationwide obviously.

Always useful to state your location and ISP and technology (ADSL, fiber, cable).

Also just opened the latest video of a popular Thailand video blogger (20 Seconds in Thailand).

Excellent in 1080p. Buffer indicator runs well ahead.

Chiang Rai, TOT, WiNet

Doesn't seem so bad tonight.
