Civility

Featured Replies

What has happened to common manners on TV, I enjoy reading many of the posts and comments.  Many comments bring a smile to my face and I have learnt a lot through educated posters and I for one thank them for sharing there knowledge.  What disappoints me is the absolute rudeness of some comments, if you cannot be positive shut up ?

You're disappointed with rude, anonymous comments?  How do you feel about rude, anonymous graffiti?

There's lots of discussion about how people are too easily offended lately.  Some people think that being offended makes them right.  Check out the News/Trump forums.  :cheesy:

Stephen Fry says it best...

“It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more... than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so ****ing what."

My take on this is, people read a post then decide the poster was in some way (the famous TV way "reading between the lines")

Having a go a pop or being what the reader classes as disrespectful!.

There are some (a lot actually) who look through post to see who bites att certain things then will go out of there way to try to get those posters to bite and to get annoyed with them for instance the old son trick at the end of a reply ie show me "son" always gets a reaction or the imformous must be a "Thai Appologist"  with a guaranteed negative response. What is it a lot of my aquaintances say openly on FB or other Thailand forums  or whilst socialising. Oh yes Thai Visa only one or two people on there who i listen too the rest are all experts on nothing, or i'm  only on there to wind some idiots up.

Says it all really.

The OP should really take a leaf from his own post  about rudness a quote from the bottom of his post  which is placed there to illicit a response in the negative "What disappoints me is the absolute rudeness of some comments, if you cannot be positive shut up ?"

So one can only be positive when replying.

Does this in fact mean dont bother replying if you disagreee with me?

Vegetarian ?   Would be good to meat you !  Civility is not an affliction

I am always offended, if the regular offenders on TVF don't offend me, after I have written an offensive post.
Cheers.:partytime2:

Civility on an internet forum ? Good luck with that. Too many cyber warriors out there who get a rush mouthing off at a stranger who has no chance to give them the smack in the teeth they deserve.

I can;t believe that there are so many louts around so ready with a belt to the chops whenever someone says something of which they disapprove.  I'm very grateful they don't drink in Sid's

Your original post was about civility and kindness on a forum.Your aggressive response shows

a huge contradicition, that we ve seen many times in this forum.(Psyco alert)

Double quote shows you re drunk,or not familliar with computers (or both)

If you have a definition about civility, keep it to yourself. No one asked.

The only thing you re going to ''meat'' is your fingers, while trying to use a grinder.

Ah well, that didn't last long. Page 2 and we're into personal attacks.....at half past eight in the morning...

Told you he is  reading between the lines again. A double post and a pun on the word Meat. Hey presto he's drunk and computer illiterate. Plus has no idea on the word civility and should shut his mouth and never darken TV forum again. But the attaker is also by the looks is also not familiar with computer keyboards!

Plus the DIY forums etc. Most of the actual worth while subforums are very civil and helpful, but no one is discussing Trump on them.

The political forums are.............................. insert own opinion.
