Teenager killed, another injured in Bangkok shooting

By The Nation

BANGKOK:  -- A teenager was shot dead and another injured when their group was fired at by four motorcyclists in Bangkok’s Bueng Koom district early Friday, police said.

Pol Lieutenant Thakerngsak Thammachote, the deputy inspector of Bueng Koom Police Station, said Ruangsak Niyom, 17, was shot dead at the mouth of Navamin Soi 68 at 2am. He was shot once in the chest.

Ruangsak’s friend, Thirasak Saenrit, 17, was shot on his left arm and was rushed to the Nopparat Ratchathani Hospital.

Their friends told police that the two and three others had been hanging out at a friend’s house on Navamin Soi 111 on Thursday night after which they rode on two motorcycles to a convenient store. When they arrived at the front of Navamin Soi 68, four people on two motorcycles opened fire at them. The faces of the four were concealed by their full-sized crash helmet.

Thakerngsak said Thirsak worked as a plumber and was studying at a non-formal education school and had no record of street brawling but his friends used to brawl with a rival gang.
