  1. try using a VPN server in Singapore.
  2. I do not know for sure but most likely yes. - it is not listed on www.aftershockpc.com anymore because the model is 7 years old, and all current models on their website have the rainbow backlight. Check Eurocom website, they seem to have some models with a normal keyboard, then you could ask them for the exact Clevo model name and order this exact model from the local reseller in Thailand to avoid the hassles of shipping from abroad.
  3. If you want really top spec laptop then check the ones made by Clevo, Taiwanese ODM. They are usually sold under different brand names such as "Dell Alienware" or "Sager" or "Eurocom". I've bought mine in Singapore under "Aftershock" brand. And usually they do not have LGBTQ+ colored keyboard *, my one has strict "business" look despite having "gaming" hardware specs. check here https://eurocom.com/ec/main()ec or here https://www.clevo.com.tw/clevo_pro.asp?lang=en * - well, I've just checked Clevo website and found out that they started to make LGBT-keyboards following the consumers demand.
  4. Why use less RAM if you could use more? Consumer grade RAM is dirt cheap (compared to server RAM) so you could really add few bucks and purchase 8 GB instead of 4 GB or 16 GB instead of 8 GB. I prefer to simply max out the amount of RAM depending on CPU and Motherboard support. this is what real "no swapping" looks like ????
  5. and that's exactly why I believe this is a paid thread sponsored by Lazada. I'm too lazy to scroll through my posts to find the ones where I described the online shopping platforms in detail but in short: - Aliexpress: simply a pile of <deleted> - do not use; - Lazada: was good few years ago, but became the same pile of <deleted> after Alibaba holding purchased this platform. Use only if you have to (i.e. if the goods you're looking for are not available on Shopee); - Shopee: quite good so far.
  6. judging by the steady rise of Shopee and diminishing amount of orders on Lazada I believe it is a paid review.
  7. unfortunately 4 GB RAM is not enought for the modern Web, and even Windows 10 alone. I believe your system is swapping hard thus lowering the overall performance and the lifespan of the SSD. Check the size of C:\pagefile.sys file while browsing the Web.
  8. AFAIR these suck. Can't recall where I've read that, I think on CanvasBlocker github wiki. My choice is uBlock Origin + uMatrix + CanvasBlocker + TamperMonkey / ViolentMonkey with a few custom scripts. Also if you are a "power user" try this https://github.com/arkenfox/user.js
  9. wow, this definitely looks like a real email from Paypal. I suppose they have some vulnerability in their system allowing to send auto-chargeable invoices to random people.
  10. one must be very brave to use that piece of browser. https://twitter.com/menzenski/status/1501721731949547521 https://twitter.com/sebmck/status/1531740563900448769
  11. check this https://www.servethehome.com/introducing-project-tinyminimicro-home-lab-revolution/
  12. Search for an option like "show full headers" or "technical details" in email menu and post these here. It looks like you use Gmail, if so then this option is called "Show original". The original message with all headers will open in a new browser tab, copy the headers starting from the top line (usually gmail headers begins with "Delivered-To:") to the beginning of the actual message (usually gmail headers end with "Content-Type: text/html" or "Content-Type: multipart"). make sure to remove your private data.
  13. Update: I've got another option: bring the original passport to the local Thai Customs office for registration, and then send just a copy of the passport (but all pages lol) to UPS in Bangkok.
  14. <deleted>... yet another update: I've got a parcel held hostage by Thai customs because the declared value is over 40'000 THB (as the UPS representative said). Now the customs want a ton of paperwork such as description of goods, country of origin, proof of payment, et cetera. This is not a big deal, but UPS also wants me to send my original passport to their office in Bangkok to register UPS as a broker, AFAIU it means "to allow UPS to import parcels and deal with Thai customs on my behalf". So make a note that importing anything more expensive than 40'000 THB will be a PITA.
  15. The one year SIMs are legit - I've used several different ones over the years and use one right now - but they have a "promotion" tariffs. It means that: - you could NOT use this tariff on your existing number - you could NOT buy them in a mobile provider office/kiosk shop - but you COULD register them in a mobile provider office/kiosk instead of struggling with the provider's "app". Don't forget to bring your original passport. - you could NOT prolong/extend their validity - you have to buy another SIM after 1 year passes
  16. uploading your passport to a sketchy chinese website.
  17. I would not be that certain ???? — she did not have her hands tied behind her back.
  18. AFAIK the exchange rate is equal or better than the cash withdrawal from the ATM, also AFAIR the fee is 200 THB regardless of the amount withdrawn which is more preferrable than 200 THB per 20k/30k in ATM. So withdrawing 90K will cost you 200 THB at the cashier and 600+ THB in ATM. Exactly, and not only in US/UK. My credit card has an extra fee for cash withdrawal, but 0% for payments online or offline, and the cash withdrawal in the bank is processed as "purchase" rather than "cash withdrawal" thus zero fees. At least it was like this a year ago in Krungsri, last time I've tried.
  19. I could confirm that Bangkok bank could open an account on tourist visa even to the plaque passport holders if they buy an insurance. At least that worked on Phuket.
  20. this situation is everywhere else in the world. This planet has just too many people.
  21. Check this topic if you need a mobile internet for work: https://aseannow.com/topic/1236854-ais-vs-dtac-vs-truemove-true-h-technical-info-for-it-nerdsnolifers/
  22. Bangkok bank really has a different username and password for the online banking, I think you just forgot about creating it after opening an account. The password is not equal to the PIN. You really should visit a bank branch to have this sorted out, maybe to change the username and password. Do not forget to take the bank book with you.
  23. Why not? I use Zircon, Thailand brand but made in China. My unit got broken within 3 months after the purchase lol (seems to be some problem with the controller firmware). Got it repaired for free even without registering the unit online, despite it has like a million stickers saying "please register within 7 days after purchase for warranty" on the UPS itself, on the brochure, the box, and everywhere else. Given the 3x cheaper price than the three letter brand I'm very satisfied with it.
