That's why I do my own studies, on me. If numbers improve, then I'll stick with the new diet & Canola, If not, I'll adjust. The fats that I actually eat, are more important that the ones I cook with. Most are just for heat exchange for even cooking, and non stick is nice for clean up. Tallow & butter for taste.

Yes, also a Yank, and RE Taxes & healthcare is the killer for me. The cost of that monthly, just to live in the USA, is more than my monthly living budget in TH. That's if you already own your home in USA, and healthy Rents now or buy in prices for homes are off the chart. That's just sad.

Way cheaper than the western/G20 or so alternatives IMHO Unless you need and actually have access to free healthcare. Then and only then, it would be a wise choice.

Don't know about all that, and TBH, a bit much for me to read. Take away from vid, IF watched, at the end of 3 month study, their cholesterol number improved. That's the bottom line and good enough for me. Anything that gets me a lower HDL/Trig ratio, I'm going to pay attention to. Carbs & sugars I cut way back on, and proteins and fats increased, to help with the digestion, spikes of carb sugars. Couple more months I'll get my numbers checked, and adjust if needed. Just trying to stay off the statin. Statin works, but don't care for the blocked production of hormones & enzymes will doing it's thing to control Trigs & LDL.

This may interest a few, like myself, always told to cut back on sugar or may be headed toward D2. Or if you are there and think you're stuck there. Worth a peek no matter. Or simply some advice on eating healthier. Type 1 ... may find some thing to help regulate you diabetes.

Yea, I do spend a bit of time myself, reading labels, and damn time consuming 😁

I may have to reconsider my oil choices, as recently using EV Olive Oil & Sesame (low heat/dressing), Peanut (high heat searing), and Coconut (chocolate), Butter & Tallow. Saw this, and does go against most vids I've been seeing lately. Important part of vid, all cholesterol numbers were better. Mentions same when compared to Olive oil. Seed oils definitely get a bad rap from 'influencers.

VW might be going down quicker than I thought. Now cutting jobs and possibly 2 factories in Germany. Seems the company shareholders are getting their first, before the ship sinks. Gave themselves dividends of ~€4.5 billion. While they hope factory & worker cuts will save the company ... wait for it .... ~€4 billion

What was your job (profession) when you moved to Thailand
KhunLA replied to still kicking's topic in General Topics
The only reason I lasted 13 years at NWA. That and the flight bennies. They didn't really care who worked your shift, as long as there was a body there. So you find a 'trade partner', who bids one shift, and you bid a different shift. So you work 2 of his, the same day you work to of yours. Two 16 hour days. I use to just give my single shift day away most of the time, unless it was a holiday at 2.5X the rate. -

I didn't ... that's why I quit about 30 jobs. Some lasted a week, or a month or 2 or 6. One lasted 1 day. One of the reasons I was self employed a lot of the time. Along with getting my work week down to 2 'full' days a week, with 5 off to actually make money or simply chill. I did work for an airlines (4 actually) after all, and used them flight bennies a lot. -
Actually I think it's all BS myself, as many climatologists don't agree with global warming. "Whether most scientists outside climatology believe that global warming is happening is less relevant than whether the climatologists do. A letter signed by over 50 leading members of the American Meteorological Society warned about the policies promoted by environmental pressure groups. “The policy initiatives derive from highly uncertain scientific theories. They are based on the unsupported assumption that catastrophic global warming follows from the burning of fossil fuel and requires immediate action. We do not agree.”2 Those who have signed the letter represent the overwhelming majority of climate change scientists in the United States, of whom there are about 60." McMichael and Haines quote the 1995 report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which is widely believed to “prove” that climate change induced by humans has occurred.3 The original draft document did not say this. What happened was that the policymakers’ summary (which became the “take home message” for politicians) altered the conclusions of the scientists. This led Dr Frederick Seitz, former head of the United States National Academy of Sciences, to write, “In more than sixty years as a member of the American scientific community ... I have never witnessed a more disturbing corruption of the peer-review process than the events that led to this IPCC report.”4 Policymaking should be guided by proved fact, not speculation. Most members of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change believe that current climate models do not accurately portray the atmosphere-ocean system. Measurements made by means of satellites show no global warming but a cooling of 0.13°C between 1979 and 1994.5 Furthermore, since the theory of global warming assumes maximum warming at the poles, why have average temperatures in the Arctic dropped by 0.88°C over the past 50 years?5"

What was your job (profession) when you moved to Thailand

Yep, part of the job sometimes. Every year we'd bid a job position & area to work at. What ever your seniority holds, and dictated what you did, where you worked, days off & vacation time. Then people would bid to work on your crew. -
