Used car market in a jam as electric vehicles spark trouble
KhunLA replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Don't care about the int'l market, especially since this is the Thai News forum. Those that want 2 engines/2 energy systems (PHEV) when only 1 is needed, that's up to them. My thoughts ... you can't fix stupid. -
Feel sorry for AN posters who bought electric

A new Yaris (vios) cost about 700k now .. no thanks. You only got 22k kms on ... I'd keep it till it died. I do 22k in one year. That's too much time in a car for me, as I need more comfort than the Yaris/vios would provide. Had 2 of them .. I'm not going backwards. -

And yet, so many more are so more successful than all of the members on AN. ... Go figure. And don't need to travel to another side of the world to survive and or have sex. -

Was sort of hard core against seed oils also, till read & heard a bit more about them. Now not so much, though use sparingly. Main issues is, they are used extensively in processed food, especially the extreme junk food. Will use canola or peanut oil, depending what in the frying pan, and temp I want. Beef Tallow & Butter more often, though pay attention to the caloric count. Since I don't burn it off like I use to. Olive & coconut for dressing and making chocolate. Again some moderation, as get plenty of fats in my food already, since leaning toward a Keto ish diet. This guy helps put it in perspective, cuts through some of the anti seed oil rhetoric.

Easy Rider ... 😎 One the subject of scooters, they've also come down. Not price war, as actually MSRP is up, but govt incentive of ~18,000, on DECO make/models at least. Ours was (2021) ฿73,900 Upgraded now ฿63,640 (82,900 - 19,000+) -
I've eaten my share, damn tasty stuff, and have never even been ill from it. As I stated earlier, choose wisely. You can make the same poor choices in a restaurant, or even at home, if you're a bit ignorant of those thing, healthy eating & hygiene. Has nothing to do with street food, and all to do with you choices. As all things in life.

You do realize, all you did was repeat what I stated, though don't know why. I'm just saying, many people surely are thinking ... "Why'd I bother", as 4 presidents, since 2000, and 2 didn't get the popular vote. If I voted for gore or clinton, I don't think I'd ever vote again. That's pretty simple to understand, and nothing taken out of context. Have a Nice Day

Same everywhere, as I know way too many people in the USA, that bought crap (trucks especially) that they didn't need, nor could afford. You can't fix stupid ... that applies worldwide -

I think that's going to change, very soon. As people realize not only cheaper to buy in, but cheaper to operate & maintain. People can't stay ignorant forever. If you're going to spend 500k or more, do you really want a used vehicle vs a new one. Spend 600k or 700k, and you're beyond entry level / get what you pay for specs. I know where my baht would go 😎 -
And the majority of people voted for 4 candidate, that they didn't get. Two of those, in this century, half the presidents in this century 4 presidents, and 2 didn't get the popular vote, in this century. Let that one sink in

That's a keeper as a spare, and shopping large items. Only reason we kept our Honda Wave 125i so long, as only drove it to put air in the tires and top it up. But, JIC the car was down, still have transport. And the Neta, is used, and possibly up to 75k kms on it, made 2022. -

I feel sorry for the folks still holding on to their ICEV, as prices will plummet next year. Especially after those BEV pick ups hit the market. -

No regrets from me, as if keeping the ICEV for 2 more years, it would have depreciated a lot more, and now, not be worth much, since an ICEV with 80k kms on it. Matter of fact, probably wouldn't sell it for what anyone would offer. Just keep as a spare, after buying the BEV pick up next year. Did get a decent market price for it, 2 yrs ago. Along with 2 yrs of driving a more comfy, better performing car, for 240k off the MSRP, along with 2 years savings from buying petrol. Unless O&A, charged with excess solar, so basically free, more than half our kms driven locally, within 250 kms R/T. Which got us out of the house quite a bit ... priceless in itself. That's a few 100 thousand baht saved, and offsets the newer pricing, some what. I never worry about, could have, should have, would have, as prefer to live in the now. If I want something, I just buy it, cost is irrelevant. For those in the market, and not budget restricted, next year should be great for new options to pick from. Maybe wait for those car shows at end of this year, start of next. Or now, for some really nice bargains, while supplies last -
I understand how it works. And only 2 states, Maine and Nebraska, aren't winner takes all. Just think if the 'people' picked the president and the 10-15yrs of invade & occupy that could have been avoided, along with doubling the deficit to finance it. Along with all the lives lost, destroyed and or displaced. In the end, no victories for anyone. Well, except defense contractors.

Thanks. That's some inexpensive transportation. Remember when we bought the ICE version of the MG ZS (2020), and I think we looked at everything, Under ฿700k mark. Nothing was worth the asking prices. Only one that actually interested us, was the Nissan Note, of all things, but new model, and I'm not one to be a guinea pig. Honda Jazz was nice also, but my buddy had nothing nice to say about Honda dealers. Ended up at MG, actually to check out the POS MG3, see if they made improvements, as been out for a few years. Nah, still a POS ... and over in the corner, that ZS. Test drove holy crap, I like it. Back home, researched the hell out of it, went back & bought it, 695k, . mid version at entry version price, as on sale. Only 3 versions back then, and didn't want more electronics or sunroof of the top end version. That turned me off ever buying another JP badged cars made in TH. Owned 2 Vios & Mazda 2, served us well, but never again. Stop me if I told you this before OK, for the newbs, Updated BEV version (2022) came out ~1.5 yrs later, along with 240k 'please buy' govt incentive, so had to place an order. 6 months to research, make sure we want it. No real competition, then BYD hit the market that month or so. Didn't even test drive the ZS EV, as didn't see the the point, since same size, comfy sitting it, so no real difference, all wee bit better than 2020 version. Picked it up 5 months later. Sold the now 2 yr old / 40k kms ICE version. Quite happy with it since, and performance impressive over the ICE version. Hence why us BEV fanboys strongly suggest, take an EV for test, if just curious, or want to prove us wrong. Why the yarn ... this price war is great, and lots of bargains out there, before next years new stock. Seriously if in the market, especially for a knock around town car, you can't go wrong with the BEVs now on offer. Less than 5-6-700k baht for some decent 'new' cars. All having 8 yr battery warranties. Hard to beat, seriously. Much better than the JP badged, made in TH, POSs they are offering for more, that cost more to operate, maintain, and perform poorly. Just my experienced & bias opinion. HAPPYY SHOPPING

No surprises there. New BEVs for less than 2nd hand ICEVs, with higher cost to operate & maintain, and poor performance. Pretty much a no brainer. Can't wait till the BEV Pick ups hit the market next year. ICEV auto makers will be taking a big dive down in sales, the next couple years, as people replace their older pick ups. -
That pricing was last month, so I'd be surprised if any were left. Nice find though If you could get one at that price. Considering the Neta V is ฿550k. Nice value that it is over other entry level cars (ICEV) ... think all would be much happier with a ฿599k ZS

1. ~฿9000 for 2022 MG ZS, renewed 2023 (Roojai Ins) MSRP ฿1,189.000 - ฿240k incentive = ฿949k purchase price New insured total loss value ฿960k 1st renewal ins. loss value ฿840 2nd renewal due next month 2. Approximately ฿ 9000 over 5yr / 100k kms warranty or ฿14,400 over the 8 yr battery warranty MG info is accurate, as serviced at 10k kms (free) and 20k & 30k kms so far. 3. Unknown ... market is too new. Every ICEV that we sold (4) we got a wee bit more than the insured value. With price cuts, I doubt that would hold for the MG ZS, as new pricing is ฿829k
