  1. Polished off the rest of the pulled pork, with a side of scrambled, or is it my usual scrambled eggs w/side of pulled pork. Only cooked the eggs for a bit more substance, and the dog is also on the eggs w/dog food diet/lifestyle. Keeping with the low sugar lifestyle, and not a low carb lifestyle. Choose your carbs wisely.
  2. Many, most apparently, haven't got a clue how to "cook" at home. And for most, it might be way more expensive anyway. Especially living out of a box. Really hard to manage fresh ingredients.
  3. 7-11 Rocks . ... just for that reason. Consistent & clean, with selections. Soup, salad, sandwiches/burgers, whole meals & dessert, all washed down with water to spirits. It doesn't get any better
  4. Our municipal pool & gym was 1k a year. Was a member for 1 yr, and think we used it maybe 5X Olympic size pool w/boards & full gym. Quite the bargain, and amazed a couple times, we were the only ones there. They revamped it, and we didn't rejoin. I really should 🤔 It's even in the shade after 1400 hrs.
  5. You can find good accommodations for 9k, or less, but add utilities, and you're back to 9k. Remember, he is trying to live on the cheap, so it may be lacking the extras of higher priced places; pool & gym. Krung Thep (BKK) is huge, and as always, location location location when it comes to RE. Personally, I'd go for a townhouse, more room & full kitchen, eat better & cheaper, if one knows how to cook. Yes, you are correct, though implied, I should have stated ... IF ... doesn't have the 800k or 65k a month, or health ins, the stay the F in home country. As I did state, and everyone knows, you can live on the cheap in TH, but, do you really want to ? 20k would be my minimum per month, 10k for housing, 10 for food. A bare existence. We actually live on <20k a month (2 adults & dog) ... BUT ... all bought in, no house, car, electric, or petrol bills, which would add; 20k, 15k, 5k & 5k respectfully, if having those bills. Turns that 20k monthly budget, into, 65k ... hmm, I think IMM knows exactly how quality expats wish to live And I don't have health ins, so and additional oops fund, or 800k, should be mandatory for all expats if on the 65k a month visa requirement, if not more ... IMHO.
  6. Rebranded Deye ... from invoice "TO SUPPLY AND FIT FOLLOWING PRICE CONFIRMED THB 345,000.00 18 PANELS OF SUNTECH SOLAR 540 WP DEYE 8 KWS HYBRID INVERTER BATTERIES LVTOPSUN 48 V 200 AH 10 KWS X 1 UNITS" Added the 2nd ESS, same 10kWh later, another 90k THB, I think
  7. Home assembled. Store bought puff pasty & cheddar. Ham & kefir only 'homemade' part. Added my usual cacao powder, Creatine & a bit of honey to the Kefir.
  8. I would avoid swimming in it. Looks nice, well, the southern end. If you need some convincing, go to the north end, (old Mod Guesthouse area) where the pier guesthouses and restaurants start at low tide, and let your nose confirm the obvious. First place I ever stayed at in Hua Hin (Mod), 24 yrs ago, before it was built up the the level today, and the smell of sewage was in the air most of the day, and so much more so at low tide. End of the pier then was easily 40 meters away from the street. I put HH up there with one of the dirtiest (fecal count) beaches I've ever been at.... IMHO
  9. The query for him is, would he be happy 'without spending much on bars, restaurants, women, and other luxuries.'. And what about health insurance, or another 'go fund me' in the making. Of course he needs to plop 800k into a bank, or have 65k baht a month income to even qualify to be in TH. If I had to, I could live on 20k baht a month, but wouldn't want to. PLEASE tell him to stay where ever he is. Don't think TH wants or needs another poor expat.
  10. Yep ... really don't need to give up much at all, and that's only if you ate a lot of it anyway. Myself, just cut way back on potatoes, pasta & bread. Feel much better for it. Egg noodles instead of pasta. Whole wheat Rye, when in the mood. All these are considerer Keto friendly, and most I ate anyway. Cutting sugar was the easiest to do, as wasn't a big fan or user of anyway. Just adjusted the type of pastries I eat now. Foods I eat, and are readily available in TH. Taken from an Keto approved list, that is much longer. On topic as always ... note Chocolate is on the list 😎
  11. Little afternoon snack, Ham & Cheddar turnovers, 'washed' down with spoonfuls of Chocolate protein kefir smoothie 😎
  12. To add to the other silliness .... "Trump dodged the draft" He didn't have to 'dodge' the draft, as it just wasn't going to happen ... ... "Lottery numbers ranged from 1 to 365 and were allotted according to birthdates. Trump's number was a very high, 356." https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/donald-trumps-vietnam-draft-records-secret-documents-deferments/story?id=13492639
  13. I think posters should concentrate on their own IQ, as the HateTrump.com forum is really exposing some totally ignorant and beyond borderline stupid people ... IMHO
  14. @ExpatOilWorker If you get around to DIY Solar, here's some things to avoid ...
  15. Got 50 adult years of experience, so all quite easy 😎
  16. To the title ... ... you must not live in TH
  17. For us it would be about 78% cheaper, if we had to charge the BEV using the grid. Minimal use would only be ~฿4 / kWh, or 70% if ฿5 / kWh vs 91 @ ฿35 / L MG ZS EV vs ICE version. When O&A, ฿7.5 / kWh = ฿347 per 340 kms vs ฿850 if using petrol. Still 60% savings 👍
  18. As opposed to ... ... LBJ supporting and prolonging civil war in Nam, killing millions ... Clinton & NATO destruction of Bosnian and Kosovo ... Bush 2 invade & occupy of Iraq & Afghanistan, resulting in about a million dead, and 10X that displaced. ... Obama's continuation of the same ... Biden's open border policy, disrupting the lives of millions of Yanks with the influx of illegal immigrants, with criminals, cartel members and illegal low wage workers disrupting the Yank labor force, and pay scales. Along with support of UA conflict w/RU. OMT ... and DJT is the anti Christ ... Trying to solve some of these past issues are heinous acts of leadership.
  19. Love the ones I eat also, and don't miss the ones I avoid; potatoes, pasta & rice. Rice is easy, as don't and never did care for it. Control the ones I'm addicted to; Rye bread & Tater tots. Rye has plenty of fat & protein on it when eaten, and the TT are deep fried, to slow the digestion and sugar / insulin spike to minimal. Homemade Cheesecake is my go to dessert, with only ~8gr of sugar per large slice, again, with heathy amount of fat & protein to go with it.
  20. Solar grilled chicken Phetchaburi
  21. Sugar has no nutritional value, except quick energy boost. Along with insulin spiking. Fat's on the other hand ... Call it carb phobia ... I call it better eating. Carbs don't give me anything that I can't get elsewhere, without the sugar & insulin spikes. I'm usually very picky with my carb intake, and try to stick to fibrous (greens) carbs. Avoiding most of the starchy carbs, as they really don't agree with me. On Topic ... as always ... Chocolate is great, though I do try to stick with just the cacao powder (100%), added to things (milk kefir yoghurt mostly), though if cool temps, hot chocolate drink always nice break from coffee. Or Mocha coffee. When I make chocolate bars, I have a hard time walking pass the frig. Too addicting 😎
  22. I would avoid buying rotisserie chickens from chain superstores. My thinking, if chicken not exactly fresh enough to sell raw, then to maximize profits, cook & sell, as the customer wouldn't know the freshness, or not so freshness. 5 Star when feeling lazy, or just a grilled chicken vendor, not trying to get rid of old birds.
