  1. Problem is, for minimal tourists you're going to have to travel quite some way from Patong in particular, and the west coast in general. For seafood and mainly Thai customers, Chaiyo on a creek in Vichit is good. Laem Hin Seafood in Phuket Town also worth a visit, as are the floating restaurants that you access next to Laem Hin. Good seafood at KanEang@Pier in Chalong, and the restaurants next to the sea in Palai, also in Chalong.
  2. Just ordered the growing medium and the two types of fertilizer. For clarity, (understanding my complete novice status), fertilizer for 'veg' is used from when the seedling appears, and the 'flower' type for when the flowers appear?
  3. OK, my first seed just arrived, bought via Shopee. OG Kush, one seed, 150 baht. So here goes.....
  4. As somebody else mentioned, Bojangles, plus Aussie Rules, Ting Tong Bar, Tapas Thai, The Tavern, The Monkey Bar and more are open though quiet. Decent food at both Tapas Thai and Bojangles, though I highly recommend ME Kitchen and Bar which is on the other side of the river, about 5 km away so you need transport, excellent food and riverside location.
  5. I believe the '2 Trees' is the standard licencing amount for individuals.
  6. My wife just checked, her cannabis grower registration is now complete. Edited the personal details in the screen shot.
  7. Just got my wife to register, seems straightforward enough. She just has to keep checking the app for when it's approved. I ordered the peat pellets you recommended, only to find when they arrived that my wife has bags and bags of them (she grows cacti from seeds). My aim is to find some space in her greenhouse. I've also got a few reasonable size containers for the initial germination. I have some seed coming from Shopee, and also just ordered from The Attitude Seedbank.
  8. This is what I use for a hot hummus: 2 x 400g tin of chickpeas, drained and thoroughly rinsed2-3 cloves of garlic, crushed2 tsp cumin seeds4 tbsp olive oilJuice of 2 lemons2 tbsp tahini (I make my own Tahini)6 tbsp thick, creamy yoghurt2-3 tbsp pine nuts2 tbsp butter1 tsp pul biber (Aleppo pepper) or finely chopped dried chilliesSea salt and freshly ground black pepper It is much easier to make hummus with an electric blender than with a pestle and mortar — you’ll get a smoother consistency. So whizz together the chickpeas, garlic, cumin seeds, olive oil and lemon juice to a thick paste. Add the tahini and continue to whizz until the mixture is really thick and smooth. Add the yoghurt and whizz once more until you have a loose, creamy texture. Once well mixed, put in an overproof dish. Roast the pine nuts in a small pan until they begin to brown and emit a nutty aroma. Add the butter and stir until it melts. Stir in the pul biber and spoon the spiced butter and pine nuts over the hummus. Pop the dish into the oven for about 25 min, until the hummus has risen a little and most of the butter has been absorbed.
  9. About 4 years ago, I had a cyst removed from my back. Seven days after removal, returned for removal of stitches. Kept the wound dry with waterproof plasters for a few days, oh, and a course of antibiotics for 10 days. Carried out by a consultant dermatologiest at his private practice, cost 5000 baht.
  10. This is the Lazada refund policiy: https://www.lazada.co.th/helpcenter/lazada-refund-process-11440.html?spm=a2o4m.helpcenter-topic.articles-list.1.4dc87e8dAPvdJP
  11. When it asks for 'Name' use the full account name that is shown on your actual bank book.
  12. "The Islander" in Rawai does decent battered fish and chips every Friday for 200 baht, inclusive of mushy peas and tartare sauce. (though at that price likely to be 'dory' fish, which are OK if cooked properly). Photo from their FB page.
  13. Agreed, local potatoes (Thai) have a very high water content. If making mash, I either bake them first or if boilding at least allow a couple of minutes 'steaming' once cooked and drained.
  14. He has been sentenced to 16 years, commuted to 8 years because of his confession. Got off relatively lightly.
  15. Indeed, he believes that a comment about one particular aspect of Thai Immigration bureaucracy marks an individual as a Thai phobe. Many of us are long term residents of Thailand with families and assets etc, and are here through choice and acceptance of the good and bad of its society. That doesn't mean we should be blind to its less savoury aspects. "Something is rotten in the state of Denmark". As an aside, I've just received my 15th visa extension at Phuket Immigration, and have never had any problem whatsoever there, and always received good service. I agree that he may be living in the wrong place with his crass comments about other foreigners, must be awful for the poor thing.
  16. Yes it would. When you consider Thailand as your home, with property and family, sorry, most of us move beyond the "we are only visitors" category. It's not about the money, it's about the flagrant abuse of what is not actually ours but their system. Sadly, it falls under the category of "Thainess", which for most who are familiar, is short for 'get as much as you can as often as you can', and you sadly seem to fall into the bracket of those who will perpetuate this system. Sad. As an aside, perhaps you can tell us where you live in Thailand? This particular topic is in the Phuket sub forum, where I recognise most of the contributors live. Any you?
  17. A recent story. My wife's car is a 2008 Honda Accord which we bought new. Although 14 years old now, its only done 26,000km as it's very much a second car. A month or so ago, the VSA (stability control) and ABS lights wouldn't extinguish. She took it to the local Honda dealer, and they quoted 70,000 baht plus for a replacement control unit. She decided to investigate further herself, joining a Thai Facebook group specifically interested in her model of Accord. Chatted with a few 'gurus', she found a place that would clean the ABS sensors on each wheel. 700 baht, and problem has gone away. She also did some research on replacing the weather seals on each door window as the rubber was quite perished and would allow water into the door cavities. Got a quote of 7000 baht to replace, but again through her FB group, learned how to do it ourselves, so only 3500 baht for original replacement parts.
  18. The partnership between Renault and Nissan means Renault unlikely to appear in Asian markets. Back to the alternatives, the Suburu Forester might be worth a look, as estate car like dimensions with 4WD, and handles like a real car rather a truck based SUV. The Toyota Corolla Cross in hybrid version could also be on your wishlist.
  19. The photo is in Geneva, Switzerland, where as with most other countries the wearing of masks is no longer compulsory.
  20. Had a good experience recently with the Britishop in Pattaya. I wanted some decent lamb mince, and ordered a couple of other things to bulk up the order, just some Irish Pork Sausages and beef mince. You can't get much further from Pattaya than Phuket by road, so I was pleased that the order arrived in a refridgerated van, very well packed, and still rock hard frozen. Alread had the lamb and some of the sausages, very good. Recommended. https://britishop.com/?utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=pagelink&fbclid=IwAR2RGmLKMYX8L1Ce9ybh7e2PbRvsaB_XAK_M_SFNsbk4kslPV5aJ_vsMoF4
  21. I use a couple of 12 inch pizza pans, and very occasionally a 16 inch version. Sprinkling semolia on them before adding the dough helps to stop sticking.
  22. Digging out the photos of recent pizza's that I've made, came across this Chicago style deep pan pizza. For this, the cheese (and in this case green pepper, mushroom and salami) goes on
