  2. Sorry but you are wrong. I have flown EK to Dubai and to the UK many many times in all three classes and they are different menus, 100%. Just to check in case things have changed since I last flew I just picked a random flight - EK 372 - departing in the next few days, and checked the economy and business class menus on that flight. As I said, completely different. Sorry but you are completely wrong. 1st and Business share some items but 1st has a lot more choice, but economy and business are completely different.

  4. Emirates is always the one to beat (for me), but make sure you are booking on an A380, the business class on most of their 777s is very poor as it is a 2-3-2 layout with no direct aisle access. The A380 is 1-2-1.. As someone else mentioned Qatar is very good but they don't have Q Suites on all planes. Etihad I found a bit meh. A couple of years ago I tried Oman business on the 787. It's superb, almost a private suite for the window seats, much more comfortable and roomy than Emirates business, also the food was better. However I would still choose Emirates A380 for the bar and service and chauffeur drive.

That's a fair enough opinion, I wish more people could be honest like you and just say "nothing against EVs but I just love petrol engines". rather than making stuff up like they'll explode, you spend your life queueing at charging stations, they'll be worthless in a few years etc etc. Would I would say is try one. I too love petrol engines, I love them a lot, always have done. But I tried an EV and was bowled over by it - so much so that I can say I would never buy another ICE. Getting back in the ICE after being in the EV felt like going back in time. I still drive an ICE by the way, but when it comes time to buy a new car I will definitely be going for an EV. You seem like an open minded chap so I would say just try one for your own curiosity if nothing else (provided your lifestyle would support one: home charging etc).
  7. I saw an Ora Lightning Cat on the road yesterday. Verdict: ugly as Hell. Very frumpy, and looked as though someone had been rummaging in the Porsche/VW parts bin, joined a few bits together and then stuck some Bentley rear lights on. BYDs, Deepals, generally look bespoke and very very nicely designed. This just looks like a hodgepodge of copied bits of other cars, not impressed.
  8. They can be fairly quiet, but no comparison. I drive what is considered a refined, mid-level "luxury" ICE, European Car of the Year winner. By ICE standards it is quiet. But from the outside it is not - the engine, the fan, extremely noisy, as are all ICE vehicles. However after spending three days in a BEV version of the same car when I got back in mine it was no longer refined or quiet, it felt very noisy, extremely sluggish, and I could feel the vibrations. It is all relative.

  10. Are you also worried the sky will fall in? It seems you worry a lot. BTW the dmax is both dirty and smelly, no matter what you think. (Not an EV owner, just someone who is not a fan boy of EV or diesel unlike many)=. Diesels are smelly, dirty, rattly, even if you have a 1990's CD player blasting. Modern EVs are silent, comfortable, and have Apple Car Play or Android Auto wireless connections.
  11. And how much would a BYD driver had to spend in that time? Ah, you don't know do you. 17 years in a rattly diesel truck, how much have you spent on oil changes, filter changes, fuel pumps and filters, transmission issues, differential issues, timing belts, spark plugs, cooling, be honest. How much spent on servicing all the mechanical parts that an EV doesn't have/? And where's your evidence that in that time you would have to spend 1m+ on battery changes? Oh, you don't have any do you.... I agree that the 15-20 year lifecycle of an EV battery is unknown in real world use, but in testing it seems to be not an issue, hence offering unlimited 8 or 10 year battery warranties being common, with one manufacturer talking about unlimited lifetime warranties.

  18. Thank you, I will check on this. And yes, it's not a visa, it's an extension of stay, my fingers just automatically type "visa" and my brain sometimes forgets to override them.

So I can leave, get a 90 day non O with no proof of funds, re-enter, and when my money is seasoned for two months I can apply for the one year extension of stay at CW. This sounds ideal. Is Savannahket the only option for this or is it the same at any consulate/embassy? It would be preferable to go somewhere easier to get to that I can fly directly, but if it is only Savannahket then so be it. Thanks again.
  20. Yes thanks, that's all in hand. I will go with my emplyer to cancel visa and work permit (it's a digital WP so nothing to hand back) on 9th April then I will get a 21 day extension to leave the country.
  21. Thanks. If I leave on 30th April, come back with 30 days, then get a 30 day extension, I should be able to apply when I have 15 days left on my extension as my money will have just about have been seasoned for the necessary time by then.......but it will be close.
