VLADIVOSTOK, Russia (Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with his South Korean counterpart Moon Jae-in on Wednesday after which he condemned North Korea's missile testing and called for talks to try to resolve the crisis.

Putin, speaking in the Russian Pacific port city of Vladivostok, said it was not possible to resolve the North Korean crisis with just sanctions and pressure alone.

Pyongyang's nuclear and missile programme was a flagrant violation of United Nations resolutions, said Putin.

"Without political and diplomatic tools, it is impossible to make headway in the current situation; to be more precise, it is impossible at all," Putin said at a joint news conference with his South Korean counterpart.

It's all fun and games to play geopolitical game, until the shit hits the fan..

Perhaps Putin should have been less aggressive in the past. Perhaps then the USA would not have the moron Trump as their president. Perhaps then we would not had to see this North Korean issue, the way we see it today.

Perhaps Putin should listen the strategical advisories, instead of simple tactical ones.

Perhaps?

Id love to see KJU threatening Putin next….he doesn't have the kimchi to do that.

The world holds its collective breath and wonders "Where the hell is Dennis Rodman when you need him ?"

I have to give Kim credit...he is playing with Trump and making him look very bad.

So much for redlines. "NK will not get ICBMs. Never happen". 'If he continues to test missiles...he'll be sorry"..."all options on the table".

Trump's problem is not that he is doing nothing...it's that he boasted about how much better he could handle it and it seems that his policy is basically the same as everyone else.

Logic tells me that it's a lot easier to %$#@ with an adversary who is thousands of miles away. If he tries it with russia he'll get

creamed. Russia and China probably support KJU …. enemy of my enemy and all that.

Perhaps it's got something to do with Kim Jong-un as well?

Oh, did I exclude Kim? Why would I do that?

Not mentioned in your post, as opposed to Putin, Trump. Xi's missing as well.

Maybe easier this way.

I believe the problem about stopping this guy is the fear that he will retaliate against the South.  However, if he were attacked by both Russia and China,  with the yanks staying the hell out of it, then maybe he would not strike the south.

Putin loves the limelight and the Chinese would join him as it would not affect trade with anyone and they would not lose face to the west.

Just thinking out loud.

Doubt there's a realistic possibility of cooperation on this level. Then there are embassies etc. to consider. Many posters harp on the US being clueless as to addressing the situation. I think the same applies to the PRC and Russia, only that because of them taking the backseat, and not engaging NK the way Trump does, it receives less attention.

Neither can be too happy about Kim's actions. Rattling the US and making POTUS look like even more of a buffoon, sure. Things getting out of hand in their backyard, not so much. But so far, there's no threats directed at either. Starting a war is easy, getting the desired end result is another. Perhaps not enough for them to pull something that's still seen as the US's chestnuts out of the fire.
