“I’m sorry, I have financial problems," That’s what a lone gunman told a teller of a Thanachart Bank on Rama III Road on Thursday before escaping with Bt270,000 in cash.

The man, aged about 30, spent about one minute robbing the Bang Khlo Laem branch at about 8.52am. A witness told police that the man wore a hair net that motorcyclists sometimes wear under their helmet.

Pol Maj-General Surachai Kuandechakup, the deputy metropolitan police commissioner, said the suspect approached the teller, showed an undetermined model of gun and demanded that he give him money.

“The suspect told the teller that he was sorry and he had money problems,” Surachai said.

He then put the money into his bag and walked out of the bank quietly. The security guard even opened the door for him, assuming that he was a just a hired messenger.

Surachai said that judging from what the suspect told the teller, he was not a professional criminal. A bank security guard told police that the robber looked familiar and may be a bank customer.

Wat Phrayakrai police are checking the bank’s security cameras to try and identify the robber and create a sketch. Some witnesses said they clearly saw his uncovered face.

Police say the gunman wore a black T-shirt and black trousers. He entered the bank carrying a bag and behaved like a typical customer.

The suspect then drew a gun on the teller and demanded cash. After leaving, he was seen fleeing towards Rama IX Bridge. Five employees and a cleaner were in the bank at the time.

Hey at least he was being honest. And see even the security guard opened the door on his way out. Nice.

So in your world robbing a bank is "honest"?!

The only "at least" in this episode, which IS an extremely important "at least" IMO, is that nobody was hurt.

Oh, wait.  One other "at least".  Armed robbery.  Period.  Track him down and lock him up for "at least" a few years.

You got to give it to those security guards They are so polite My questions is for all you detectives in here is Why did the teller not yell out "Hey stop him he just robbed us" Any clues why he did not yell this out to the security guard  I will start the ball rolling I think he did not yell it out because he knew the security guard  was absolutely useless and he did not want the guard to get his uniform dirty when he hit the floor because he was terrified. Anybody got any clues why the teller did not alert the guard?

So if you advise the teller that you owe this much to the loan sharks and the buffalo is sick and the MIL is in hospital you will be ok ... and get the cash.

haha ...  wow  !!    what next   :clap2:         amazing thailand   !!!  you couldn't make this stuff up ....

Many banks are on the first floor , security guard stands below at street level at the front door and can't see the tellers.

Alerting the guard could get him killed because the robber had a gun.
