Officials to ponder regulations on “pet cafe”

A committee tasked with protecting animals will meet on Wednesday (Sept 13) to consider how best to regulate the operations of the so-called pet cafes in a way that will protect humans from animal diseases and, at the same time, not affecting the business and animal lovers.

 

Kaset Sutecha of the faculty of veterinary, Kasetsart University, said that there were several animal diseases that can be spread to humans such as germs in cat’s excrement which can cause sickness or cause miscarriage in pregnant women, allergy and all the bugs in the animals.

 

Pet cafes which offer food for customers are required to seek permission from local authorities, but there are no clear-cut regulations governing the business.

So a committee tasked with protecting animals , will protect humans from animal diseases . Mmm , Thai logic I guess .

 

What about all the dirty hands that touch the animals ?
