He looks a hard little fella.

Not many people will refuse, when he asks for a donation envelope !

Just couldn't help yourself could you?

What the hell is wrong with some people here? Even when a story has nothing negative attached to it, they manage to turn it into an opportunity to bash: Thailand, police, army, Thais, teachers, anything Thai, other expats, you name it. what a sorry life some of you must have...if my life made me that bitter and twisted I'd neck myself

Let´s hope the grounds of him being a police is based on proper education and police school. Not on that he´s famous and owns the belt as it seems in the pictures.

"As it seems in the pictures" So by  pictures you assume he has no education or police schooling? Wow, if i send you a picture os some lottery tickets can you tell me which ones to buy

I was just wondering why we have to look so happy and include the belt in the pictures. Quite irrelevant. Is it a boxer or is it a police they want?

You clearly need to get out of the house more.

I live near Uthomphon Phisai, my step daughter goes to school there.  Mr Wisaksin left for bangkok with his gf at age 15 to find a better life.  His life has been hard and I would suggest that through hard work he bettered his future and that of his family.  Instead of applauding him you suggest he is corrupt.  1600 posts in a year, I can see you have the razor sharp focus to be a world champion, featherweight troll

SISAKET: -- The Thai World Champion boxer who has joined the police force was made to do ten push ups as punishment for an infringement of the rules on his first day as a cop.

Wisaksin Wang-ek - better known as Jao Laem - is the WBC super fly weight champion of the world.

Uthumporn Phisai station chief ordered the mock punishment after the 115 pound fighter turned up for duty wearing illegal white socks!

Everyone wanted their picture taken with the famous boxer and his belt before he started duty in the investigative branch at the station in Sisaket province.

From my understanding....the investigative branch members can sit the test after they have completed a Bachelor degree. My cousin is currently studying law and then will sit the test.

Also from my understanding, the government have a rule that if you are an elite sportsperson, like a world champion or Olympian, then you can enter the police or army. A rule many think is silly, but it exists from what I have been told.

Most likely, this guy will just be a secretary or something similar though as, yes, he will probably not have the test scores or training for any 'real' police work.

When 99% of the Thai population has no training, it's not hard to assume with a picture or not.  I truly think a piece of paper with a B.A. from a Thai university is equivalent to a 9th, maybe 10th grade high school/secondary education in most western countries.

Brings me back to my memories of my teaching days when I first got to Thailand.  A big ceremony was held for a highly respected teacher for getting a "PhD in English Education".  The next week I was walking by her Grade 1 (IEP - Intensive English Program) class and saw her writing on the black board "This a father, This a brother, etc."  The week after "I like eat orange.    I not like eat apple".

Just sad!
