A newborn baby was found in a garbage bin in Chiang Mai province on Sunday.

Local residents spotted the baby and immediately alerted volunteers, who went to the area to rescue the baby.

The newborn boy was no more than 24 hours old, according to medical staff at Lanna Hospital.

The hospital said the baby was in stable condition and would be transferred to a state-run orphanage.

Police also said they would check recordings from security cameras in the area to find who abandoned the child, which violated the law.

I don´t get these sick individuals that do such evil things. There is just no excuse for this kind of behaviour.

i am getting old and emotional, tears pop up in my eyes. knowing that this newborn life has just began......thank the Good Lord  it was found on time

@getreal  We don't know why this happened but some of the alternatives to abandonment of a live healthy babe at the hospital door are much much worse.

Like not leaving the baby in the care of a hospital and dumping it in a bin instead....

At least the little child now has some hope in life, the mother will need serious help.
