patong immigration still closed?

Featured Replies

can anyone confirm if the patong immigration office is open or still closed.

thanks in advance...

But it has been developed into a undesirable place in many aspects.

open,  but for anyone on a long term visa/extension, best avoid and use Phuket town.

Why?

I have not been there since they reopened.  I have my 90 day coming up though I will try to do it online but I have never been successful with that, yet.  I need a re-entry permit also.  Patong is closer for me.  Riding to Phuket Town is something I dread anymore.

90 day report and re-entry permit should be done in Phuket Town.

The aggravation of doing it in Patong far outweighs the dread of riding to Phuket Town (what about the bus?).

That was my last experience in Patong...

Patong can only make 30 day extensions on 60 day Tourist Visa and 30 day stamp on arrival.

thanks for all the replies

yes...its open n operating

its not as friendly or streamlined as before.

a new boss i was told.

a lot of people being told to go n get more info or do things differently.

my photo was rejected because the background colour wasnt white.

a first for me.

the copy n photo guy is just outside tho.

20 baht per page

200 baht for 6 photos

hes not good with the camera...i saw a top of head cut off n my pics were half body.

doubt i could use them elsewhere.

the immo officer was going to reject them but as they were fresh from his guy he accepted.

still...the wait for extensions was short n the whole thing done in 30mins including photos.

they can do 90 day reports & re entry permits, ( if u fit into their requirements and ALL ur paperwork is in order++)  and also issue certificate of residency ( at a cost) for getting drivers license or buying a bike or car.

Today it was open.

^^Yeah, the last time I was there is was FUBAR, but it still beats driving to Phuket Town. I'll just bang my head against the wall several hundred times before I go and then it won't seem so bad.

Much better than the last time. In/out in 27 minutes compared to 75 minutes 90 days ago.

Mbike parking was jammed so had to go around again and park near Banana Walk.

You always can check the Phuket Immigration Volunteers website ( www.piv-phuket.com ) for the closure dates.
