Ship to address for lost ATM

Featured Replies

Hi,

Posting this for a friend of a friend who is traveling in Thailand at the moment.  They lost their ATM and will have their local bank overseas ship them a fresh new one.  They are traveling by the seat of their pants so do not know which hotel they will be at when it arrives in 4-14 days.  Cannot use my address for various reasons.  Is there a way to ship it to their embassy or some other solution?  Looking for ideas... Thanks!

If it's an Amex card, I think it could be delivered to and picked up from their main local office. Probably same for other big names.

Thank you Morch..Any idea about Bank of America?  They have an office here, but not sure if it's much of an operation.

Have they already checked with their home bank that they will ship to an arbitrary address in Thailand?

How do they communicate with their bank, wouldn't the bank at least require a FAX with a signature?

General delivery/poste restante is possible to every post office in Thailand.

Just specify the location/city of the post office and the correct zip/postal code.

Of course they need at least a rough idea to which area it should be sent.

Thailand is 1600 km/1000 miles north/south.

Of course passport has to be shown for pickup.

The next problem would be, how to know when the shipment arrived?

Registered mail (can be tracked online) is highly recommended. (though I doubt that banks are that flexible/customer friendly).

Isn't the answer that your friend should be asking the question to the BoA?  They are the only ones to answer your question as it is up to them where they are willing to send it.
