Pattaya woman ripped off us to the tune of 100 million baht, say victims

More than 10 victims of a Pattaya scammer went to make a complaint at the police station yesterday.

They said that Sirilak Ngandee otherwise known as Kunphat Phiromjirajan, 33, had ripped them off in the sum of more than 100 million baht.

She had pretended to be a high up official in a financial institution and could get favorable terms on shares and trade deals.

The scam followed a familiar pattern - those who invested got high interest on small stakes at first. When sums got bigger the fraudster just disappeared with all the money.

One furniture store owner at the resort said they lost 8 million baht. The con woman actually worked for their company so they believed her stories.

Police said they have investigated relatives of the woman and believe at this stage that they were not involved.

Investigations continue to find the woman and others connected to the fraud.

When are people going to learn, scams seem to be happening on a

daily basis,Thailand must have an over supply of gullible ,or should

that be greedy people,as that's what the scammers use as bait, greed,

offering high interest rates that are not sustainable ,and unbelievable,

into days World of low interest rates.

:cheesy::cheesy::cheesy: This story is all about greed.

If something sounds to good to be true it usually is.

Yet again a story about dopey people being conned out of serious amounts of money.

Why on earth would a person part with 8 million baht, without knowing /checking things out properly?

Thai people seem to be so susceptible to these kinds of scams.

My dear old Mom used to say "if it seems too good to be true then it probably is".

Unfortunately with the amount of ignorance here and in other poor countries you're going to have things like this happen.

Just because people have money doesn't mean they aren't ignorant.

Ignorance is the biggest disease facing this country and it's an epidemic.

I can't reconcile these two statements.

Seems that semi-well off people in Thailand have no brain whatsoever when it comes to making fast and easy money.

Just Thailand.... ever heard of Madeoff... oops Madoff?

It is greed, and persuasive people and a well set up scam. I got caught up in one operated by a British guy. Friends had been with him doing well for some years .but I still initially went in in a small way. Good results and you get drawn in deeper. Searching for that dream of no financial worries,  And end up with a site more.

What do you expect they got their ill gotten gains from family members in the greens and browns, never done a days work in their life.

a fool and his money are soon parted  ©

...but to their defence, Madoff managed to scam many of the most prestigious global financial institutions and the whole "establishment" itself.....and that too, for years...

How do you KNOW that the money that they invested was ill gotten?

How do you KNOW that they have never done a days work in their life?

Are you certain of that? Is it just a guess or only your opinion?

it is quite common that non-achievers blame anybody who was financially successful by assuming and/or alleging "ill gotten" :whistling:
