Grandpa hacks 'abusive drunk grandson' to death

By The Nation

A 75-year-old grandfather was taken into police custody after he allegedly hacked his “abusive” 17-year-old grandson to death at their Buri Ram house on Thursday night.

Boonlert Noksanthai waited for police at the scene and handed over a clever to police.

His grandson died of six serious wounds on his face, throat, temple and head at their house in Ban Khok Yang in Tambon Kan Luang in Buri Ram's Nang Rong district.

The boy’s father, Pornchai Satthatham, 40, told police that Boonlert, who is his father-in-law, killed the teenager in self-defence.

Pornchai said his son got drunk, demanded money to leave and go drinking, and threatened to harm his parents if he did not get the money.

When Boonlert tried to calm the grandson, who was carrying the cleaver, the boy hit the old man repeatedly. The grandfather snatched the knife and hacked him, Pornchai said.

Neighbours told police the grandson often beat up his own grandpa after getting drunk.

Very sad that a Grandfather has to do that to his own flesh and blood, but the grandson sounds like a nasty piece of work the world is better off not having around. Lots of innocents just got protected from the violence he would undoubtedly have dished out. I hope, given he has witnesses that the Grandpa is treated with leniency by the courts.

Sorted!

Never pick a fight with an old man. He might just up and kill you.

Good to see the father sticking up for his dad against his idiot, abusive son.

Maybe yes, but I think for most part it's the fault of that same father failing to raise his son!

The grandson is just 17 and already had a reputation of beating up his grandfather! At that point you know that you failed as a father!

Gotta watch out for those old guys with machetes be they Aussie or Thai.

Yes all of that is 'good reason' and the area will certainly be better off.......... and may I add there is a girl or a few....... who may not get raped or have a baby from him that will never know it's father.........

The parents should not have let their son act in this way from the start.

He obviously wasn't disciplined as a young kid .....  if he was this wouldn't have occurred.

Unfortunately I see this every day at the neighbors.

A boy now 2 yr can do whatever he wants, rocking the gate/doors, crying like mad until walked to the village shop, hitting with a stick/throwing stones at the little dogs (consequence: dogs moved away, locked up at a shack).

What character will this become? I am pessimistic.

Just that this little boy is left with his grandparents (as so many).

With you there BNQ , opposite my house there is a boy about 2 - 3 years old . Not with GPs but mum and dad and this boy is horrid. I have told the TW if he comes in the garden and breaks anything it is her responsibility.  He threw a stone at me when I was setting off on my push bike last week , I turned round went back and clipped his ear. If parents want to know why I did such a bad thing I will tell them. He will no doubt grow in to a little sh..t.
