Attached is the latest special offer from Ford for current customers, good through end of December.

Since I am looking for new tires on the sports lorry, the buy 3 get 1 free looks interesting.

Nice to see a choice of Goodyear, Michelin and BF Goodrich as they usually come new fitted with Bridgestone Duelers.

So, looking for an opinion from other pickup drivers for the 3 choices offered here of Goodyear, Michelin or BF Goodrich as fitted to your pickup.

The small print indicates the Goodyear choices from, 'Assurance Fuel max', 'Eagle NCT5', 'Durasport Aquatraction' and 'Wrangler HP' models. I am assuming that the 'Wrangler HP' will be the only one offered for Rangers? These would be for the 265/60R18 size. Anyone with a recommendation or information from a similar-sized Michelin and BF Goodrich tire much appreciated.

Comments and observations on cost, wear and tear, longevity, road noise and road-holding in the wet all appreciated.

Thanks!

NL

What are you running on your ride? Any recommendations on rubber? Chatted with one of my buddies last night who's had a Vigo for ages but it came with Duelers as well. Maybe you've tried something else over the years?

Mine came with Michelin  from factory,  lasted for a long time, replaced two with the same type that wore out in no time, l reckon dodgy batch..So l put much cheaper (E) coded Thunderer on which are doing well and lightened up the steering..If it were a hotrod I may have done different..:stoner:

I'll check on those. Great tires when I re-shod Mrs NL's car a few years back. Interested to know how hard, noisy, long-lasting they are.

Michelins were first choice for commercial fleets years ago in the UK as they were harder wearing but in my experience, a bit skippy in the wet. Your experience could indicate that it's either a bad batch or hardness may not a universal trait. Mrs NL's Honda came shod with Michelins and they were very noisy despite lasting around 70k before they got replaced with Deestone's. We didn't keep the Honda much longer but I'd like to think it was quieter than the Michelins.

I have seen a few trucks with Maxxis Bravo AT and Bighorn's mounted. Maybe some others have tried these and can comment?

Chap I was talking to in Korat shod his Ranger with Maxxis Buckshot but since they are mud tires, I reckon road noise would be higher.

I'll check out those Thunderers too, thanks. How much were they?

Are these prices for latest version and tread pattern tyres or for older versions of the tyres? Seems cheaper than Siri a Nan and I'm about to change our tyres after 60km.... We got a 2015 Wildtrak 3.2 with toyo proxes treads and they've lasted really well.

If these are latest model tyres and they are not just trying to get rid off old stock then I will go with Ford... But i think they just trying to get rid off stock?

All I can suggest is print that flyer and take it to your local Ford shop and see if they're part of the promotion. Ask to see the tires and check the sidewall dates. I doubt that Ford are into making a fast buck from some other company's old tire stock but undoubtedly some may wish it to be as such.

They had a similar promotion last year with only Bridgestone Duellers on offer for Rangers plus wiper blades in addition to the brake shoes and battery discounts. I was out of the country and missed the deadline.

They can keep their rubbish batteries!

I swapped 3.5 year old Duellers on my previous Ranger to Michelins and the difference was night and day. I might show this to the missus as our current Ranger has 2 year old Deullers on it and they're an average tyre at best.

When I need tires I do the major shops between Pattaya and Sri Racha, and Siri a Nan is always the most expensive of the whole lot.

Best price I always get in Sri Racha, about 500 meters past Tuckom at the same side.

I have a few friends who drive a lot for business purpose who also swear with that dealer.

Pretty much any new tire will be like chalk and cheese when replacing a well-used, half-worn, 4 year-old tire. But interested in the Michelin's ongoing performance, road noise, wet surface handling before you sold it. Agreed the Dueler is average but trying to get a handle on the above-average performance of the higher-priced Michelin rubber. At the moment, it would be my pick until I hear good or better things about Goodyear Wrangler or BF Goodrich products. I know the BF Goodrich KO2 AT is the tire of choice for those getting bigger tires on smaller rims but wondering if their standard 265/60R18 looks like the one below.

Good tip there. Bit of a bugger as I just left town but I'll check this out after I get back from work. Is it the place in the picture?

The Michelins I got were their tyre biased to road use not off-road at all. I only had them for 2 or 3 months before I sold the truck, but they were a damn sight better than Duellers are when new.
