Former American teen idol Lindsay Lohan cried tears of joy as she met her hard-core fans at a promotional event in Lat Phrao, a Bangkok neighborhood known locally for horrible traffic, cheap rents, and more than a few broke expats.

Lohan, best known for her lead role in Mean Girls and a well-documented struggle with drug abuse, was a born-again star last night, as she appeared at a fashion show for Pony, a New York-based sneaker brand, at Central Ladprao shopping mall.

While countless Thais in attendance were screaming “Lin-seeeeee!”, Lohan seemed most impressed by one young Thai man who showed up with a giant poster of her and a Playboy magazine (which we can only assume featured her on the cover.)

Confirms her status as a has been which is wonderful.

In point of fact there is no "Central Ladprao shopping mall".  There is a Central Plaza Lardprao in Chatuchak and a Central Festival EastVille which is actually in Lat Phrao.

If that is what is being talked about it is has not been in Lat Phrao for decades - that was made part of Chatuchak long ago.  Those reporting really should know better.  But it seems reporter was more into making negative comments about those of us who live in Lat Phrao for some reason.

More than a few broke expats ?.... where did this come from ?...

Is Lad Prao area renown for expats living in a shoe string? I've been in Bangkok for 20 years and have never heard of such comments regarding those who live in Lad Prao.

Some of these journalists are total tools in their attempts to 'create interest'....
