Paragliding in Thailand

Featured Replies

Quite some time ago I saw mention of Paragliding on this forum.  That thread is now archived but I did just want to let people know that there is now paragliding instruction and tandem flights available on the island of Koh Larn near Pattaya.  We can do simple 10 minute tandem flights just to give you a taste of what it feels like to be a bird or we can give a 5-7 day course so that you can be a solo pilot.  At the end of the course you will be able to take, fly and land safely under the supervision of an experience instructor.  You will also be awarded an internationally recognised license.

Here are some links to give you a better idea of what is possible:

Hi Geoff,

I don't have Facebook, so I can't visit your page. I am interested in learning more about the paragliding.  I used to be a private pilot for a brief time (about 200 hours flying time) and had about 30 skydives-- both some years ago.  Looking for a less expensive way to get back up into the sky.  I live in Chiang Mai, but visit down your way fairly often.  Can you tell me more about the instruction, e.g., cost. You can PM me if you prefer.  Thanks.

John

Hi Geoff,

I decided to go with powered paragliding training.  All the best to you.

Hi John, I think PPG is very popular around Chang Mai and in fact Thailand generally its very popular with more PPG pilots than normal free flying.  I am not suggesting that PPG pilots are abnormal but the idea of strapping a 30kg lawnmower to my back with 5 liters of petrol in a plastic can does not ignite my passion.  More seriously....good luck with the training and if you are ever down this way let us know.  You can fly PPG around the island of Koh Larn too.  The scenery is spectacular.  We sometimes take passengers up in our tandem trike.  When I say we I mean not me but other pilots here.  Have fun.

You can get our contact details from www.flykohlarn.com if you want them.

Geoff
