Restaurant wars: Pakistani stabbed "for having more customers"

A Pakistani restaurant owner went to Pattaya police to say he had been stabbed in the neck.

Usaman, 33, said that there had been a fight and a pack of men descended on him. He said the arguement was over the fact his place had a lot of customers and a neighboring one did not.

Usaman had been treated at a hospital for a wound in the neck area before he went to police.

He said that a fight developed with a group of men from a rival restaurant who were drinking outside his property. They were unable to beat him so they called to five others who got involved.

One man in the group produced a knife. Luckily he suffered only a small injury and managed to flee.

Police are studying CCTV to get a lead in the case, reported Sanook.

I doubt that's the full story. Thailand is hardly the destination of choice for Pakistanis, and Pakistani cuisine is downright awful, lacking the  variety, finesse and quality of Thai cuisine. No one seeks out Pakistani food unless one is pakistani.  I doubt this chap was serving French cuisine let alone a bountiful English breakfast.

Perhaps someone  had a mouthful of his hand and arm hair. Looking at his munched upon fingernails and cheap "gold" bling, the very visible encrusted dirt is discernible, I hope he will wash up before he returns to his cooking.

Who said he was cooking? Except you off course.

Is this a troll post? What prompted this vitriol? I go to an Indian restaurant owned by Pakistani who has become my friend, every week since opened. Pakistan was once part of India, FYI. I love Thai food and Indian food, but if I had to choose which to have for rest of my life, I'd go with Indian. I doubt he was serving "French cuisine" (aka "food". Cuisine is a pretentious word...). I like the English, but English food is not one of the magnets pulling folks to visit that sceptered isle.

You conveniently over look the attack on him and instead focus on ad hominem attack. Care to give us "the full story" regarding this unwarranted attack?

Thai food is wonderful.

Pakistani food is wonderful.

Indian food is wonderful.

But what I want to know is what is the name and location of the restaurant with more customers? So I can sample their popular product!

Better they go home to their own country and have their fights. Useless people.

That's a disgusting and racist generalization.

Not sure about Pakistani cuisine but I've eaten Afghani food (in Afghanistan) and some of it was quite delicious. It wasn't "tourist" food either as it had been prepared and brought into camp to feed the local workers.

The recipes are probably similar though Pakistani food may have more "Indian" influence. The biggest concern for most (Westerners) would be hygiene. A lot of Westerners live such clean, healthy, "purified" lives that any contact with any foreign bacteria leaves them sitting on the toilet for days on end. I'm sure most people already know that "hygiene standards" are not something too many places around here worry a lot about.

One thing I've always found odd in the ME and SEA was how one person/company would set up a business (restaurant/shop/etc) and not long after others will move in and set up identical shops right next to the original ! Then, instead of 1 shop getting 100% of the business in that area, you've got 3-4 shops each fighting for a slice of that pie. The idea of setting up a similar shop in a different area that doesn't have anyone already doing the same thing seems to be completely lost on them.
Like a woman I used to know. Her sister ran a laundry shop in the building they owned. She decided to set up her own laundry and found a place a few blocks away, right next to an existing laundry shop and across the street from another one ! F.F.S. !!
Needless to say, she went broke as splitting that pie 2 ways was bad enough, trying to split it 3 ways meant they were all suffering. So what did she do ? Set up a new laundry, in the shop next to her sister ! (Yeah, she went broke there as well and no, none of my money was involved !)
I see the same thing with motorcycle shops. One guy opens a shop and has a decent business and suddenly everyone wants to open the exact same kind of shop right next to him instead of in an area where there are few (if any) shops already running.

You are seriously asking for trouble if you set up a business next to one that is already running and doing well, in the hopes you can steal all their business. No idea of who had their restaurant in that area first but it seems that some are not too happy about how well they are doing.

Pakistani food is similar to Punjabi (Northern) Indian food.

There are many Punjabi restaurants in town.

Afghani food is more distinctive. I'm not aware of any Afghan restaurants in town.

No, absolutely not! Where is there any racism in my comment. You must learn to understand what you read, man.
I will break it down especially for you.

If they are going to fight or stab, maybe kill eachother. Do that in your home country. Don´t deliver the plague of your own madness to another country. Never said that goes for a specific nationality.
In my opinion all people that act out of violence are useless. Ok, if you want to make it racism, then I am a racist to the race of violent and mad people.

I hope you understand what I meant now.

You are right. Many restaurants which describe themselves as Indian are actually Pakistani establishments and even more are Bangladeshi. Pakistanis specialise in Punjabi cuisine and Bangladeshis specialise in Bengali cuisine. I read somewhere that in Britain 85% of Indian restaurants are actually Bangladeshi. Both Punjabi and Bengali food is excellent. I too would choose 'Indian' food over Thai.

Amazing how some people can see things that aren't  visible, such as "dirt encrusted fingernails".

How much did he pay for the gold that you seem to think is just cheap, bling "gold"?

Many "Indian" restaurants are actually run by Pakistanis and Nepalis.  Indian restaurants are very popular and their cuisine can be excellent.

I just want to say thank you for your thought out, coherent, and well written response.  It seems no one cares how or what they write these days   This is a baffling phenomena~as well as pulling into traffic without even looking~both defy common sense
