thaibeachlovers
Was that Pattaya Bay Beach Rd or Jomptien Beach Rd the rounding up was done on? According to the publicity, the boat show is in Jomptien, not Pattaya. Usual BS pretend crack down. They could just have put a sign up saying not to be there during the time period of the show. Jen65
why doesn't Pattaya and the authorities arrange that one particular street / soi ( maybe soi 6 ? ) be regarded as an adult venue/street where prostitutes can legally carry out their business and be monitored - just like the "winkelstrauser" in Hamburg which has a boarded entry with notices to advise public . This way the business of prostitution / selling sex can be made in an organised , legally approved safe area which can be monitored . The sex trade can never go away but it can be arranged to be safe and organised . Also , all prostitutes in this "street" would have to be registered AND have regular medical check ups with proof of same for customers .

Stargeezr
Yes it was a joke. There was a documentary a few years ago showing US sailors landing at the peir in Pattaya, and the sailors were all welcomed by these pretty ladies saying, Welcome to Thailand. Maybe 'they' don't need to legalise prostitution but certainly de-criminalise it.The way paid-for sex is regulated works pretty well as it is. Massage parlours can be licensed and gogos and bars can have girls available as long as the customer takes them off the premises. Beach Road soliciting, however, is not.Sent from my SM-G930F using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
