That's your opinion mate.   He simply asked for information about sky bars in BKK.

To be fair, SiSePuede419 is providing his valued opinion that the OP might as well sit on a plastic chair looking up at the sky with a bowl of 30 Baht noodles and a cold Pepsi and save 90 quid.  'Tis good advice.

I sure its far from being rated as the best...but the last time I was in BKK went to the Zoom Bar....as its near the appointment I had at BBH hospital...got there at about 6pm..had a drink then looked at the wonderful view of about 3 klm's of parked cars on the highway....so we decided to stay,  quite a few Mai Tai's latter my wife noticed the  netting they had around the building just one floor below and asked.... I just told her that was to prevent people who had just got the bar bill from leaping......well we laughed and laughed....right up to the point when we actually got the Bar Bill......:omfg:

Some of the not-so-high rooftop bars can be good.

In order of ascending altitude:

  1. Vogue restaurant - Chong Nonsi - not high but interesting views, decent food, nice bar
  2. Sheraton Four Points - Soi 15 - small, comfortable/fun seating, good food, DJ
  3. Mercuryville Roof - Chidlom - lively, good price food, everyday rooftop bar
  4. Zense, Central World - interesting views of temple, shrine and central Bangkok - food a bit average
  5. The Long Table - nice if a bit pretentious restaurant and small bar, good views over Benjakitti Park
  6. So Sofitel - Sathorn - impressive design with retracting roof and side screens making a 'convertible' rooftop bar, 720 degree views over Lumpini Park and beyond - ideal if chance of rain
  7. Above 11 - lively, good (ish) views and a toilet with a view!

You shouldn't have thrown her over.

As theguyfromanotherforum so succinctly puts it, the area is filthy, for which I am in full agreement, hence my post.

We are not fans of the Lebua hotel either as the room was very expensive, which isn't a problem in itself, but the room was very dated with the dreaded breakfast buffet and therefore not worth the money.  Sofitel has a far superior product to Lebua with Club Millesime access and a superior breakfast in quiet surroundings for the same price.

Filthy?  I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

Good list with a few I wasn't aware of.

Thanks for the tip Bangkok19, I haven't CLOUD 47 yet and it's very close to my flat. Will give it a whirl.

I had heard Cloud47 was closing or closed ? Can anyone confirm this ?

EDIT : someone already confirmed earlier in the thread !

Just to second the Lebua. Crazy expensive and they control your every movement. If your a fan of the Hangover movies, then that would be the only reason to go there. It was the only reason I went.
