Hi

Hoping someone can help!

We applied for Permanent Residency in Australia, my step daughter is Thai and has her Father’s surname. The issue is he changed his surname a few years ago and apparently the child’s surname changes automatically without issuing a certificate of name change. The Australian immigration requires the name change certificate or a document/procedure that explains that a certificate is not issued for an under aged child and it happens automatically. We have his name change certificate. The father is no help in this matter. Thai embassy is no help either. I am finding it difficult obtain any information on the internet.

How do we get the certificate or a procedure that explains the name change process for children, without going back to Thailand?

Appreciate any advice!

Contact DOPA www.dopa.go.th to ask for the official procedure, alternatively contact the Thai ministry of foreign affairs, consular department for help.
