Police in Huay Khwang have charged two motorcycle taxi riders with assault and threatening behavior after they tried to attack a Grab Bike rider and his female passenger on Tuesday.

The man on the back of the "Win" bike swung a one meter club several times in the direction of the Grab driver and passenger in an effort to knock them off.

The Grab driver was fined first, however, when police had them all at the station.

The story was reported on the Facebook page of Hataiwan Yasuta who said that she got the Grab Bike from a university in the Asoke area.

By the time they reached Fortune Town shopping center on their way to Rachada Soi 3 she realized two men on a motorcycle taxi with their faces obscured were chasing them.

When they turned into Soi 3 the man riding pillion took a swing with a one meter club that they managed to avoid. They he did it again and Hataiwan shouted that police would be called. They didn't like the sound of that so they fled.

After Huay Khwang police were told what happened the victim and a friend went to the 253 Building in Asoke where they spotted those responsible.

Lumpini cops were soon on the scene and after the "win" drivers fled for 20 minutes they were rounded up and taken to Huay Khwang police station where they were charged with assault and threatening behavior.

They said they did it for fun as they don't like Grab.

The Grab rider was fined 1,000 baht for operating an illegal service, reported INN News.

regular taxi drivers don't like these app based systems because they remove the ability for them to rip people off by calculating the fair and standardising the price

welcome to the world of choice and competition - a hard pill to swallow it seems for some of these taxi cartels and rip off merchants

"win" means a taxi rank (motorcycle taxi rank) in this case.

Thanks for that. When I read "Win" I thought it was the same guys who had an argy-bargy with the tech. students. Originally thought it applied to a specific taxi rank. Live and learn.

Of course the BiB got their priorities right as always. The violence felony is far less serious than the commercial crime of running a Grab service. Obviously the pay off routine decided the priority in this case.

The grab rider was fined first why? He dies a job and a couple of morons don't like it. I wonder how much the morons were fined if anything

I hope the grab guy was fined because its a clear cut case with a fixed fine.

The attackers on the other hand should appear in front of a judge who will decide how long they need to be jailed.

Wait, this is Thailand, police can just act as a judge and jury and decide on the spot how many wais are needed.

Motorcycle fees are already standardized.

Every stand will have a big printed poster with the fee to destination, along with a phone number for customers to call if they are charged more.

Yup,

And if you fancy stopping for a game of baseball along the way, you won't need to go home to get your bat.
