Parsnips & Sprouts

Featured Replies

Seasonal question ,   are  parsnips and sprouts normally available in Thailand at this time of the year . Frozen preferred and I am hoping that a major outlet such as Makro

may supply them nation wide as I am in the north east .  Also I imagine that turkeys will be expensive and availability scarce  unless you know otherwise .

Frozen Sprouts were/are available in Makro, also fresh Parsnips,

at an eye watering cost, the Sprouts only 100 THB Kg.Turkey

prices are crazy, dont buy Thai turkey, skin and bone.

Thanks a lot ,   I will check it out and to be truthful I think a slow roasted chicken takes some beating .

Don't you have anybody visiting from US/UK/Aus?  Just ask them to slip a pound of parsnips into their luggage. I brought some from the UK once and they made a nice treat.

That is a good idea as I may have my son coming over

Frozen sprouts are available at Makro, however, they seem to be older than dinosaurs. Rimping supermarket often has fresh but stringy dry old parsnips from Australia, expect to pay over 200 baht a kg, and after you cook them it is like eating parsnip flavoured wood.

Thanks guys ,

Got the frozen sprouts on Friday 90 baht a kilo but no sign of parsnips . I hear that Makro are a franchise and all stores do not always stock the same produce . Have been told that Buriram Makro is better than the Surin one .

Can anyone back that up ?

Thats right theres 3 Makros in Chiang Mai,they stock mostly the same stuff,

but one has a lot more products for Farangs,we also have RimPing supermarket

here that has an extensive range of Farang goods (at a price)also the Kings Project

which grow a wide selection of fruit and veg, they even grow sprouts, just wish they

would grow parsnips and swedes,so they could be offered at a reasonable price.

Parsnips are always available fresh in Tops supermarket in Central Pattaya also villa supermarket last year Tesco had lots of frozen parsnips sprouts etc in their Tesco finest range. Also they had swedes in Villa
