‘Premium gold’ marijuana haul seized in Nakhon Phanom

The Royal Thai Navy’s Mekong patrol unit has seized 610 kilograms of “premium gold” quality marijuana, the unit’s chief told a press conference on Monday.

Commander Adisak Phanurojanakarn said the marijuana was seized late on Friday night after the unit received tips-off that a trafficking ring would smuggle the drug across the Mekong River at Ban Chai Buri in Nakhon Phanom’s Tha Uthen distirct.

He said he assigned undercover officers to stake out at the spot by disguising themselves as fishermen. The officers saw a large boat crossing from Laos and, after identifying themselves, ordered it to stop.

The boat’s skipper instead drove the boat to a pier and then fled on foot into the darkness.

Adisak said 15 bags were found on the boat with 610 bars of dried, compressed marijuana in gold foil wrappers.

He said the marijuana was apparently made of the young flowers of cannabis plants, not leaves as in most cases, so it would have stronger effect and would sell at a higher price.

Adisak said intelligence officers had learned that the shipment was heading to the South to be smuggled to a destination in Europe, where it would have fetched Bt100,000 per kilogram.

Forget it mon, they're hopeless.

> ... apparently made of the young flowers...< says it about all, that would be dumber than even I thought ...

" not leaves as in most cases"? it's never leaves, leaves with buds yeah but leaves on their own, who'd buy that?

Gonna be an awesome Newyear party at the Royal Thai navy Mekong dev. :partytime2:

Sure, Thai ganja exporting to Europe [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]. Is it April's fools day...

Wow. the sheer incompetence for drug fighting cops: It's made from "young flowers" not leaves like in most cases. I've never seen just "leaves" here in Thailand. It's always compressed buds (flowers) with poor potency.

Wrapping something in a gold wrapper doesn't make it gold quality and young flowers are no preferable as they haven't finished growing into giant fat yummy cola buds the size of horse cocks.
