Jealous Thai man attacks ex-wife with axe in the street on her way home

A 25 year old Thai man laid in wait for his ex-wife as she rode home on a motorcycle after selling garlands at a Buriram market.

Then in full view of passing traffic he stepped out and confronted her with an axe striking her over the head. She was wearing a helmet.

He then continued the attack on her head, face, body and arms.

Fearing for their own safety no one tried to help Porn, 37, from the murderous attack that took place on the Ban Nong Phai Road in Muang district, reported Sanook.

As she lay unconscious in the street the axe man fled the scene. Foundation medics got her to hospital where she is fighting for her life in a critical condition.

Police on the scene found only blood and bits of helmet. But they soon had Narongsak, 25, in custody along with the two foot long axe used for chopping wood that had been hidden at his house.

Narongsak, still covered in blood, said that he split up with his wife two years ago but found out she had another man and he was jealous.

So he laid in wait for her as she made her way back to her house.

He has been charged with committing grievous bodily harm and detained.

Another example of Thai cowardice from the attacker and the numerous onlookers. I bet they were not scared enough to take pics of the attack. One weak Thai man could easily be brought down be even the weakest person but " Not my business " is the way they think

A good whack about the head with an axe might help him understand what a prick he is.

500฿ fine and a "Don't do it again." speech by the local police...Oh wait, he was vaping while waiting. Well then, 5 years in jail and 200,000฿ fine.

Attempted Premeditated Murder. 20 years.

Next case.

Did he happen to have an e-cigarette and vaping liquid in his possession? That would surely add another 5.

And the fragile Thai male ego rears it's ugly head yet again.

Fragile male ego also rearing it's head in UK

The Femicide Census - Womens Aid

ANNUAL REPORT 2016

Victims (of males) :113

69% (n=78) of women were killed by a current or

former intimate partner.

77.4% (n=24) of women killed by their ex-partner

or ex-spouse were killed within the first year that

followed that separation.

31 (27.5%) killed by ex.

What is your equivalent figure for Thailand?

I was driving back from Surin to Bangkok earlier this year and came across this guy laying in the road with his motorbike a few meters away. No one stopped. I stopped and tried to help the guy. I was later told by my Thai wife and other Thai's that it was a big mistake to do that. I could have been robbed or blamed for the wreck.

Crazy place.

10 years??? isn't that a bit extreme? it's not like he had an e-cigarette !

He will pay 500 baht and be on his merry way. TIT

That wouldn't be fair; you get 10 years for possessing an E-cigarette, hacking someone with a two-foot axe should be a lot less

I would have thought he should be charged with attempted murder and if she dies then charge him with murder but I'm praying for her recovery hang in there Porn.

This blood-lust is either in their genes or based on the certainty for attempted murder you will not be punished as hard as for possession of an e-cigarette.

My thoughts exactly.

He probably dumped her because he found someone else, but she wasn't allowed to find someone new because she had to still love him.

A very perverse view on life some people have.

I know this kind of thing happens elsewhere in the world, but it seems like something very average here. Not in the extreme as in other countries.

Not sure how you can make a situation up about him dumping her and then call that perverse

Literally the only thing particularly speculative (or "made up" as you put it) is that he left her for someone else. Everything else can be inferred from the article.

That is the bit that I was talking about

He's 25, she's 37.   She left him 2 years ago, which would have made him 23.  If he was a typical Thai male, he didn't take his marriage vows seriously and was chasing ever hot tail he could.  She found out, got tired of it, dumped him.  His fragile male ego couldn't deal with that, but it took him 2 years to act on it.  The charge against him should be Attempted Murder, not simple assault but, this is Thailand, and they make up the laws/rules as they go along.
