Ayutthaya-based Thanpisit Omsin won the season-ending Bt4 Million Singha-SAT Khon Kaen Championship yesterday, his second PGA title of 2017 propelling him to Thai PGA No 1 player of the year.

The 21-year-old fired a closing 70 for a total 14-under-par 274 and a two-stroke victory over Jaturon Duangchaichoom at the Singha Park Khon Kaen Golf Club.

It was his second win on the Thai PGA Tour this season after his maiden title at the Kabin Buri Sports Club Course in Prachin Buri in September.

“With two-shot lead ahead of the final round and two early birdies today, it made me feel more comfortable out there. I started the year hoping to make the cut in each tournament but I have won twice already which is beyond expectation,” Thanpisit said.

A handsome cheque of BT360,000 propelled him to the top of the Thai PGA Order of Merit with total prize money of BT715,450.

“It’s a double delight to win two titles and end the year as the No 1 on the Thai PGA. Next I hope to succeed in the Asian Tour Q-School in

January,” said Thanpisit who will play his last event in the Booncho Rungkit Championship in Nakhon Ratchasima next week.
