Jogging / running

Featured Replies

I am looking for someone or a group with whom to jog or run.  Are there any such groups or clubs with at least some farangs?  I live off super highway by Big C / Bangkok hospital and so would prefer something in that area if possible.  Thank you.

hi u can go to Chiang Mai 700 Years Park on Superhighway. Many people who jog there mornings and evenings. Its actually a park built at an intersection connecting Highway 11 and 3029. I go there sometimes for a morning run 6am.

Huay Tung Tao Lake, Chiang Mai, Tambon Don Kaeo, Amphoe Mae Rim, Chang Wat Chiang Mai 50180

nice run/jog and you’ll meet others there...

I ran with the Chiang Mai has until about 10 years ago, great fun and a great way to meet. Haven't been to CM for a while, they used to meet at the Hash pub just down from Tha Pae gate inside the moat towards Top North guest house.

5Km running/cycling track starts just behind the new Temple, entrance by the 'EST' sign.

Hardly used, was there yesterday passed, 1 jogger, 1 cyclist, no foreigners (except me).

Not sure it's 5km any longer. I remember before they built the temple, the track went on on both sides for another couple of hundred metres. It was described as 5km then. I just think they didn't change the signs that were already posted around the 'track'.

I was there yesterday 4pm ish.

I used run most days on the bike track between the convention centre and the stadium. I also ran laps nightly in the convention centre around the roadway. Good area with many likeminded people.

Hash House Harriers?

These are two different places though...

So just to be clear, it sounds like there are four options for jogging et.c in that area: 1) the outer, free loop of Huay Thung Tao, now ~4.5km after work in recent years, 2) the inner part of Huay Tung Tao around the reservoir-- expect to pay 20-50 baht, 3) the 700 Year Sports Stadium, also on the Canal Road but closer to town, which was built for the Southeast Asian Games in 1995, and 4) the jogging/cycling path along the Canal Road. Although there has been some rather shocking development in the area in the last 10 years (mountain bikers know what I mean), at least the bike path is in good use.

cant really use the bike lane to cycle. the gaps between those steel bars are crazy small. road uneven most of it. more danger riding there then other places.

You’ll probably be able to squeeze through after you take your stabilizers off...
