Starting to think about a visa application for my wife to visit the UK for around 5-6 months in the early spring (something she has done many times before). We will be travelling around Thailand with friends and family for much of January and then I will be heading back to the UK in early Feb, I want get the visa sorted before I head back to the UK.

I know I can apply up to 90 days in advance for the visa, we plan on submitting the online application in early Jan and then getting an appointment to submit the application in person three weeks later, does anyone know if this is possible or is there a time limit on how long an online application remains valid without an appointment?

Why apply online so early if your not ready to submit.

I'd advise you gather all your documents for submission together first, then complete the online application and book your appointment to submit.
