webfact
PromptPay computer error causes frenzy on last day of 2017 as transfers fail A TECHNICAL glitch knocked out the popular PromptPay money transfer service for seven hours yesterday morning, causing frenzies on social media, especially among people waiting for money transfers on the last day of 2017. People on social media said money had been debited from their accounts using the government-sponsored platform but the recipients at the other end had not received the funds. That prompted the Bank of Thailand to issue a statement clarifying the situation in which it said a computer error transfiguring the last day of 2017 into that of 2018 had wreaked havoc. According to Chantrawan Sujaritkul, the central bank’s spokesperson, the glitch happened at about 7am yesterday, after which Wanna Noparporn, managing director of National ITMX Co, which operates the PromptPay platform, said the problem would be fixed quickly. The national money transfer service returned to normal at about 2.30pm yesterday. The central bank said users should not worry as everyone would receive their funds. thaibeachlovers
I'm lovin it, and my Christmas wish is for it to keep failing. Then the sheeple might wake up to what is happening. It used to be silly tourists that thought they could visit LOS with just a credit card, till the card got lost, stolen or eaten, but now it's millions of people that will suffer for putting unearned faith into systems that can fail because of one wrong line of code. xvend
I can confirm some bank transfers missing, but, it will be worked out in the end. Sure. Thailand is actually pretty advanced in their banking. In the USA takes 24-48 hours for a transfer.

Mmmm.... and yet the “norm” in Thailand is for things to happen without explaination, so why worry?.... maybe to many Thais are starting to think like farangs i wonder if any disgruntled users contacted the anti scamming task force.... they did recommend contacting them ASAP, after all, with any concerns ??? My experiences here are the same as yours. Friendly, helpful, and on the whole very efficient and effective. Sadly the UK banks aren't that anymore and are becoming less and less customer sensitive and focused IME.
harrry
I just made a direct payment from my AUstralian Bank to a fims account in Australia. 4 days later not credited, they told me it can take a week I had forgotten our slow banks. Every month I make a few online transfers here with my Thai bank (Bangkok Bank) , straight through and available the minute I press enter.
