PM suggests Thais to start saving for their future

 

 

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha called on Thai people to spend wisely and to start saving so that they will have enough savings to make a living after retirement.

 

In his weekly address to the Thai people on Friday (Jan 5), the prime minister said he would like the Thai people to have discipline in spending and to start long-term saving with a purpose, adding that saving is important and this should be instilled in the minds of our youngsters.

 

However, he said that many people would question how could they start saving because their income was not enough to meet their spending.

SO the entire thinking of today matters because we are here today and can't see the future are done? I would agree with saving for retirement but as most need to spend all they make to survive it's a hard sell. That massive 15 baht a day won't go far but lets be honest it's a start.

When the number 2 in Thailand can afford multi million baht watches on his not great wages, then you really should listen to the PM. 

These guys know how to invest.

Fantastic to see that he practises what he preaches. He must be very frugal as an army officer to have saved nearly 130 million bht and transferred over 460 million bht to other family members in his asset declaration.

Perhaps he could help a little. The couple that live across the street have a house only because they share with her father and sister and the land was given to them by their grandfather. The wife has a clerical position at a local retailer, the husband works as a roofer, is not full time but steadily employed. They have 2 children ages 8 and 6. Recently my wife told me that the fees for the 6 year old are 17,000 baht which includes uniforms and lunches. The government could help reduce those costs or improve the quality of education, maybe both. These people are working, contributing, law abiding citizens who won't be able to buy a ticket on a high speed rail train. Maybe a little help for the people in the trenches is in order .

So in principle they might be able to save, but are mentally unable to comprehend the idea of saving.

This is the most evasive remark from a "prime minister". Instead of implementing a decent pension scheme for the elder and supporting the poor by raising the minimum wages  and spend less on military useless toys, he comes with this cheap advice.

No conscious whatsoever.

Need an education system  and ability to learn skills for employment that pays a decent wage before one can even go there and preach about saving. Oh, and whilst I'm here how about a democratic elected government in place then doing your daily evening God like rants?
