Chines tourist visa from Thailand for UK national

Featured Replies

Evening,  I received one of the above years ago fairly painlessly via an agent.

Can this still be done within a good timescale and reasonable fee in/around Pattaya?

I can do it from UK before I leave but they charge around 100 quid agency fees alone.

Cheers

There is also a consul in C Mai on external SW section of the moat , last time i went 1000 baht double for Americans.Needs a couple of days/pix .for a Z visa.As a tourist should be easy, you can also visit Guianzhou and a few other cities for 72 hours visa free. Check with the emabassy

Guangzou is where I'm flying to.

I will be working there on a Z visa once the WP is processed.  If I travelled over before the Z visa is processed and stayed for 3 days without the visa, what would I need to do in China if the WP isn't processed in time?

Also, do you know if a tourist visa issued from Thailand will differ from one issued from the UK?  May sound odd but with visa requirements I always try and spot a trip wire.

Thanks

Once you are in China, for 3 days visa free ( its been extended to 6 days for some cities now-google) I would not attempt lightly  to get another visa-either leave after the short visa free time or enter on a tourist visa ( 30 day).

Its tricky to change your visa while you are in China, you would need your employers persistent assistance and lots of hoops to jump through.

The visa rules for China are black and white ,for once.

The tourist visa is the same wherever you secure it....IMHO

I am planning on getting a double entry visa to China from Bangkok instead.  Ideally then get my employer to do the rest when I arrive there.

I think the 3/6 day plan is out the window.

If my WP is processed in time I may be able to apply for a Z visa from BKK.

Going to Chiang Mai for that purpose might well be worth the effort and extra cost, as those folks are a LOT more easy to deal with than the nasty Chinese embassy in BKK

Just got an update from agency in BKK.  They need all this....

Tourist visa ( L)
If you would like to go to China for travelling and apply for tourist visa, you need to prepare document as below:
1. Original Passport (6 months remaining/ 2 blank pages)
2. Visa Application form v.2013 (you can download on www.visaforchina.org or come to get at our center)
3. Two photo with 2 inches in white background (formal dress) ,your both ears need to be shown, take off your earring, glasses , hat and no smiling.
4. Photocopy of your passport on a data page
5. Photocopy of previous Chinese visa (the last one, if you have been to China before)
6. Photocopy of the Thai Immigration Stamp (the validity of Thai Immigration Stamp needs to be remaining before leaving from Thailand to China)
7. Typing the letter to certificate yourself (for foreigners who stay in Thailand without long-term resident ) (the detail include: your name, country, passport number, what do you do in Thailand, what is your purpose to go to China, How long do you stay in China, who will pay for your trip, sign your name )
8. Original and photocopy of work permit (for foreigner who work in Thailand)
 9. Work certificate from your company/employer in Thailand (for foreigner who work in Thailand)
10. Flight ticket (round trips) **( you can stay in China not over 30 days for each times)
11. Hotel reservation or an invitation letter (from you friend in China)

I can get 1-7.
8 and 9 doesn't apply.
10 and 11. I won't have as I am staying there and moving onto a Z visa when its set up.

Any advice?  How about reverting to the F visa?
I have an invite from my employer.

I agree the China embassy in Bangkok can be tricky to navigate I always use the small one in Phuket - much friendlier

if you apply in BKK maybe easier to use an agent ( i know it doesn't, on the surface, appear necessary... that's how it is etc etc

I'll have to do so via BKK unfortunately.  I am going to go for the F or Z visa if my WP is processed in time in China.

Anybody have experience of this?
