Well sutnyod, nice to see you here! All the bedlam members will be happy to see you!

Is that a Paul Hogan knife or the other guy knife?

E: Curses, another blasted edit. I meant to say 'Crocodile Dundee'. *** Ping waits for the obvious question - 'Who TF is Crocodile Dundee?' ***

Is that a Paul Hogan knife or the other guy knife?

Just you wait.....

But no, it's a carving knife.

Welcome sutnyod

Ok, time to get personal......will this hurt much ?

45 years old (had a birthday last month)

Australian

Male

Been working in SE Asia for the last 10 years. Used to work in IT for 20 years but tossed that in when I left Australia to come to Thailand 4 years ago. Have since been working in jobs for which I'm totally unqualified and inexperienced. Go figure. Learning a lot which is a big plus.

Have a Thai wife from Isaan (I love the black skin and the flat noses) and a 5 month old daughter who doesn't have black skin or a flat nose which the wife is extremely happy about. Have a 7 year old son from a previous Thai wife (he doesn't have black skin or a flat nose either), also from Isaan, now living in Australia (yep, stupid enough to do it twice....3 times if you count my Aussia wife before that). Not really worried about what anyone thinks even if I'd been married 10 times (except maybe thinking I've lots of money to give away).

Enjoy TV and so far have only been suspended once (thanks Lopburi3, discovered life does exist outside TV, even managed to leave the condo once).

Just resigned my last job in BKK and am moving to Kabin Buri to improve my Thai and try a new business idea. Looking forward to spending time with the locals on the golf course.

I get frustrated with much the same things about Thailand and Thais as everyone else. Not sure if I suscribe to the "love it or leave it" group or "try to fix it" group. Spend some time in both camps I think.

No plans to go "home"...I am home already, this is where my heart is and those I love.

I'd like to say thanks to all those who have helped over the years with their posts and offer my apologies to those who I have offended, past, present and future.

Best wishes to all.

PS. That really is me in the avatar.

Yo sibeymai! Welcome. Go to the welcome thread...

It all feels so confessional :D Here's my waffle...

Female

30 years old

Australian

I've been living in Thailand for 3 and a half years, just came to visit at the end of a round the world trip..last stop Thailand before the planned return to start working in the rat race again. As things turned out, the tsunami hit just before I was to return home but I decided to go down to Khao Lak to see how I could help out. I ended up volunteering for over 4 months and in that time met my Thai husband who also came to volunteer. We married a year after the tsunami and went to live in his village way down south where in the entire 3 years I've only seen 3 other farang (VERY antisocial old retirees who lived in town) in the whole province!

As my husband lost everything in the tsunami and I was pretty povo from being at the end of my travels, we lived with his parents. His mother is a demon in disguise of a tiny little old Thai lady and his father is an angel. About a month ago I decided that freedom and sanity were more important then living with the folks any longer and packed up and have moved to Bangkok...so here we are, free of the parents for the first time in over 3 years and it's glorious!

We're now at a cross roads of whether to live in Bangkok and work or to move back to Australia for a few years. Good and bad in both decisions, I almost feel like flipping a coin!

So, that's my donut :o

Ahhh...... ignore my other post in the other pinned thread.

(you would think that after this long I would learn to read everything beforehand)

Nice one RueFang, I hope it all works out for you and your hubby...

Welcome RueFang. Did someone mention donuts?

G'day RueFang. From one Aussie to another, welcome. Living with the reloes can't be all bad, especially in Thailand. Guess mother-in-laws are the same the world over.

Forget the doughnuts.....this is an Aussie we're talking about.....where's the beer ?

Ta muchly again, I'm feeling all warm an' fuzzy. Golden rule of life should be that adults should not live with parents, makes for a happy and long life. I'm swaying more toward Australia just to escape from them! :o

OK, so now that I have made it into Bedlam, time to introduce myself formally.

35 years old, UK born but raised in SA for 10 years, then back to England for a few years. Lived in Israel for a year and began working as a Tour Leader for a UK Adventure Travel Company, covering the Middle East, North America and for the last 5 years Asia inc Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, China and North Korea. Hung up my leading spurs last year when my wife became pregnant, now work as a manager in Bangkok handling all ground ops for our clients in Thailand, Laos and Malaysia.

Consider Thailand to be home, have no intention of living elsewhere.

G'day tourleadersi, and welcome to Bedlam.

Adventure tours.....probably doesn't get much more adventurous than the Middle East.

Welcome, tourleadersi! Make yourself at home. :D

However, you do realise that we already have our resident tiger here? Hmm, could get confusing... :o

Don't worry Mickey, I did actually use that avatar for a while. I don't think tourleader is a tiger I think he just likes the avatar.

Im Don from Sydney Australia.

Im half asian half western with looks that can kill.

I have a beautiful wife who is Thai who I meet in Sydney while she was studying her masters about 6 years ago and got married last year and this year (2 weddings which I will post photos soon).

I work for Deloitte and hoping to transfer to Deloitte in Thailand hopefully soon. Never lived in Thailand but would love to give it a go for a few years. Love the attitude of the people in Thailand as its unique and laid back.

Hello TheDon and welcome to Bedlam.

You should fit-in here as one of the values we cherish most is modesty...

Truth be known I am badly allergic to cats! Sorry if I am using an old avatar of yours tiger, I picked this one out soon after I joined and have just never got around to changing it. I am a Leo, so wanted something with a big cat, but couldnt find anything that didnt have the king of the jungle licking his balls. The tiger was my next choice. Thats right, I can be a little more risque on Bedlam, or do I turn off the lights as I leave?

Yep, the Middle East was adventurous, Yemen particularly. Nothing came close to North Korea though. I am sure there are dodgy dvds circulating around Pyongyang market of 'The big white hairy farang scratching his butt.' Bugged and followed everywhere. Was like something out of a spy comic (for beginners).

tourleader, you can check out any time you like but you can never leave! :o

Okay, here it goes:

I'm Jingjingna from London, 39 year old female and have been living here for approx five years now with my Thai G/F.

Left school at the tender age of 16, joined Barclays Bank, stayed there five years and left to pursue other avenues. Have previously lived and worked in Belgium for four years for Thomas Cook/Amex and then moved on to Saudi where I worked as cabin crew attendant.

Came here five years ago and run my own language school. Love Thailand for now and would not consider moving back to my home country.

That's it, short version anyway! :o
