Hello all you bed(lum) bugs

I am a youthful 50 year old male originally 'dragged up' in Saff London. Convinced to join a Bank at 16 (NatWest) and after 26 years realised it was more fun as a self-employed Plumber (and the money/tax incentives were much better :D ). After holidaying around the world discovered LOS about the same time as a certain big wave. Jacked-in work 13 months ago and living here in Surin fulltime now with my Thai wife. Previously married and lived in Eastbourne, West Sussex where my Two daughters still reside.

I confirm that I'v read all the Bedlum rules so now I can try not to break a few :o:D

Dave .... break a few, or at least bend a couple.

I've read most of your posts in the Isaan section (The Archers chapter of TV) and enjoyed most, well a fair percentage of them :o .... and I'm a big fan of Noggin The Nog.

Welcome.

Yep, welcome aboard, Dave. :o I've seen you around a bit and, like Thadders, I rate Noggin the Nog, Thor Nogson, Draculus et-al.

Rules there are but they're a bit bendy so feel free to add your DNA to the gene pool. :D

Okay, here it goes:

I'm Jingjingna from London, 39 year old female and have been living here for approx five years now with my Thai G/F.

Left school at the tender age of 16, joined Barclays Bank, stayed there five years and left to pursue other avenues. Have previously lived and worked in Belgium for four years for Thomas Cook/Amex and then moved on to Saudi where I worked as cabin crew attendant.

Came here five years ago and run my own language school. Love Thailand for now and would not consider moving back to my home country.

That's it, short version anyway! :o

Welcome Jingjingna, have seen you around and am glad you've made it to Bedders, enjoy!

French, born 43 years ago in the middle of nowhere

Big psychological issues since my childhood because no one was in my tree

Bought my first Beatles record at age 10 (before that I used to steal my elder sisters’ tapes)

Attended a nice little village school where I learnt to master the art of dreaming

Forests and mountains were my playground. My father taught me how to pick mushrooms.

Was later sent to a city school full of Roman Catholic priests where I became an atheist.

Discovered Herman Hesse, Aldous Huxley, Acid Rock and girls (but not how to keep them more than a week or so)

Left university when I realized that my friends were not sane enough to start a revolution

Had many jobs you don’t want to hear about

Organized rock concerts and happenings that drew crowds of people you also don’t want to hear about.

Wrote books that nobody has ever read

Ran a gallery where nobody has ever bought a painting

Came to Thailand as a backpacker 18 or 19 years ago but can’t remember why I eventually ended up here because I wanted to go to Tibet (I can’t remember either why I wanted to go to Tibet). Traveled to Vietnam (where I could have stayed, for a girl whose hips I’ll never forget), Cambodia and Laos. Came and went for a few years and then settled down here 10 years ago.

Drank often, bought a bar, sold it two years later and quit drinking

Taught French jokes 101 at a very funny gvt university.

Made a baby, built a house and planted a tree. Haven’t succeeded yet in taming the Thai shrew that has always been by my side since the beginning, no matter what happens.

I can’t live without books and music

I roll my own cigarettes

I like my friends, grilled pork and Fawlty Towers.

I have a cat, my son has a rabbit but for some reasons those two don’t play together.

Am still trying to write books that nobody will ever read.

Nothing has changed after all those years. I still have serious psychological issues cause no one I think is in my tree. I mean it must be high or low

Nothing is real.

This is my first post in Bedlam,

JB

---------------------------------------

There are places I remember

All my life though some have changed

Some forever not for better

Some have gone and some remain

All these places had their moments

With lovers and friends I still can recall

Some are dead and some are living

In my life I've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers

There is no one compares with you

And these memories lose their meaning

When I think of love as something new

Though I know I'll never lose affection

For people and things that went before

I know I'll often stop and think about them

In my life I love you more

Though I know I'll never lose affection

For people and things that went before

I know I'll often stop and think about them

In my life I love you more

(Lennon-McCartney)

Good first Bedlam post JB (what kept you?) and you ended on one of my all time favourite Beatles songs.

Good first Bedlam post JB (what kept you?)

What kept me? I thought Bedlam was only about titties and beers. Not that I don't like titties...

Yep, it's lovely, isn't it? Although I like Thai beer, Beer Lao Dark reminds me of English bitter. Sigh... :o

Now's your time to apologise for sabotaging the Pacific, and for Citroens.

Welcome to Bedlam. Get used to it.

(please take this as tongue in cheek....I know you frenchies have a low tolerance level) :o

  • 3 weeks later...

I slipped under the radar, so now here to introduce myself.

English lad, 32 years young. First came to LOS when I was 23 and like a yoyo keep coming back. Have spent extended periods in Thailand largely on pleasure but tend to just holiday here lately. Shortly to relocate to HK so will only be a couple of hours away from the Kingdom while still being able to continue my career in financial IT.

Oh and my name's not really Jack Jones...

Thanks for the intro JJ - everyone in Bedlam has a nick for their nick!

Nice to see all you new folk in our humble establishment. Welcome to the asylum!

What ? You're not really the exceptionally talented and famous Jack Jones ?

And I thought we were starting to raise the tone of Bedlam with some quality people.

Welcome anyway.

Well I am exceptionally talented but not as the famous Jack Jones :D

I could raise the tone if you like but prefer to lower it in most cases :o

Hello, JJ and welcome. :D

Don't worry too much about lowering the tone around here; just seems to happen all by itself. Even if it doesn't, you can rely on a couple of furry quadrapeds and a small devil to do it for you... :o

In that case, just follow the example set by the rest of us inmates.

Hey, I'm just a 'path of least resistance' sort of guy, and going down is usually easiest.

Hey, Thaddy, you're not related to Linda Lovelace by any chance, are you? :D
