Chinese Visitor Visa

Featured Replies

Looking at going to the China F1 for a visit.....

re Visa's...am I reading this right? For a UK Citizen (living in Thailand).....it's 1100THB for a Single Entry Visa?

Whereas, if I was in the UK applying for the same Visa, the cost would be GBP85.00 (3600THB)

A UK National applying for a Chinese Visa in the UK would be charged £151 if appying at the Visa Application Centre or £175 if applying by post https://www.visaforchina.org/LON_EN/upload/file/20180103/2017-12-06 updated schedule of fees .pdf

The same person applying from Thailand would be charged 1,600 Baht:

https://www.visaforchina.org/BKK_EN/upload/file/20171221/2018Schedule of Fee(英)_kPJP8o.pdf

I have no idea why the fees vary so much, maybe VAT and operating costs are applied depending as to the actual location.

that's sounds about right, the cost in the u.k. is ridiculous - i got a 1 year China business visa from the small consulate in Phuket for 3200 baht...

"If you are going to Shanghai or a few other major cities for a short trip ( up to 6 days) it's now visa free." Only if you are "in transit." For this purpose, you're not considered in transit if you fly, say, BKK-Shanghai-BKK nonstop, since your return flight from Shanghai goes right back to Thailand. Way around this is to structure one leg of the trip via Hong Kong or somewhere else outside the Chinese Mainland.
