Man killed at pedestrian crossing by train in Udon Thani

By The Nation

A man was hit and killed by a passenger train while crossing railway tracks in Udon Thani’s Mueang district on Friday night.

Police said Prasong Wongwinya, 57, was hit by the Nong Khai-Bangkok train at 7.50pm at a pedestrian rail crossing in a community on Soi Pongsak in downtown Udon Thani.

Neighbours said the man crossed the rail to drink beer at a grocery store and later started to cross back to his house in a community on the other side.

The train stopped briefly to report the accident to police before it continued the journey.
