A cabbie, who decided to continue driving taxis after having his license revoked in 2015, was summoned and fined after a video of him asking a trans passenger for sex went viral this week.

The cabbie, identified as Thanet Torasap, was fined a total of THB3,000 (US$95) yesterday for driving without a license and verbally harassing a trans woman, saying he’d pay for a five-star hotel room to have a good time with her.

“I’ll get a room at Shangri La…or Sofitel, it’s close by,” he said in the video posted Monday.

So... having your license revoked isn't enough to protect the public from 'errant' taxi drivers.... (as if we didn't know they'd just ignore this and continue driving anyway)...

But the penalty for continuing to drive a Taxi without a license for +/- 2 years is just B3000...

In Thailand there really is very little incentive to follow the law at all - its quite fortunate that the vast majority of the population are inherently 'good'.

Yes, what kind of punishment is that.. nothing... should fine the company that rents him the cab a lot too. That way they will be more strict checking licenses.
