Chai Nat postal official, believed deep in gambling debts, commits suicide

By The Nation

A post office official in Chai Nat, believed to have been deep in debt from football gambling, shot himself dead on Friday morning.

Therdsak Onsing, 40, who worked at the Wat Sing Post Office, was found dead in a storage building near his house in Tambon Makham Thao, Wat Sing district, at 8.30am.

Therdsak’s father, Boonsong Onsing, found him sitting in a chair with a gunshot wound to the right temple and a homemade .38 revolver nearby.

He was wearing the jersey of the Spanish national football team.

Therdsak’s father-in-law, Wan Iamchai, said the younger man had told him several times about owing Bt800,000 in gambling debts and having no way to repay them.

Wan said Therdsak visited him a few days ago and spoke as though he were saying goodbye. He’d actually urged him to not consider suicide, saying he had to remain alive for his wife’s sake.

This is very sad, I hate to think what will happen to the country and its people when the ban on gambling ends and casinos are allowed to open, and that isn't very far away mark my words.

Sorry to say this, but in the long run, his family will be better off as these kind of guys will not change.
