Newly formed rock band (two guitars and drums) is seeking a bass player and a keyboard player. We are playing a set of original rock songs and two sets of covers of classic rock, blues and soul.

This is not a salaried or full-time situation. But we are passionate about what we're doing and are looking for musicians who can commit to the band. Ability to sing back up or harmonies is a plus.

We intend to gig asap and also record originals.

Dont you run into WP issues if you start gigging ?

ALL foreigner musicians suffer from Work Permit issues here. Only the clubs/hotels that book bands as a house band offer to sponsor a Work Permit. The rest play at their own risk.

Bass players don't really play though. They just stand there with a dumb look on their face and pretend to play so technically they aren't working.

I am an ex professional bass and keyboard player, but unfortunately not in the type of music you play, but stick with it and I wish you the best of luck.:guitar::violin:

Yeah, Paul McCartney, Lemmy, Roger Waters and Sting are all known for standing there doing nothing.

Even when they're playing for free.

It's such a shame when you think about the talented folks in the expat community who have few (legal) venues in which to perform and who receive little or no exposure.

Apart from a few select venues which provide work permits for international musicians, there are few options at the local level for music fans outside of rooms that feature Thai bands and their "take" on Western musical genres.

I understand the protectionist economic rationale at work, but it makes for an unhealthy music community, IMO.

Hey I'm a legit Bass (uni degree and all) player and I agree. Hell, even our teachers has a saying when we were tuning up "good enough for jazz"
