University student falls to death from Pathum Thani boarding house

By The Nation

A first-year student of Bangkok University was killed in a fall from his room on the seventh floor of a boarding house in Pathum Thani's Klong Luang district early Thursday.

The roommate of the student called police at 1.30am to alert them of the fall, which was believed to be a suicide.

The student was identified as Monthep Musikarangsi, 22, a business administration student.

His roommate, Siwakorn Chaichana, 19, told police that he saw Monthep walking out to the balcony while reading his smartphone and he thought he was going to smoke a cigarette.

Siwakorn said he then heard the sound of something hitting the ground and when he went outside he saw his friend’s body, so he called police.

Siwakorn said Monthep appeared stressed for several days. Siwakorn said the balcony had a chest-high guardrail, which made an accidental fall unlikely.

The body was sent for an autopsy at Thammasat Hospital.
