PHUKET: Construction of the luxury residence at Krathing Cape, overlooking Nai Harn Bay on Phuket’s southwest coast, has been ordered to stop following an inspection yesterday (Feb 12) that deemed the site to be on protected forest land.

The order was handed down after an inspection by officers from the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE) and the Royal Forest Department.

Leading the teams were Pol Lt Col Montree Bunyayothin, Director of the DSI’s Bureau of Natural Resources and Environmental Crime, and former Sirinath National Park Chief Cheewapab Cheewatham, who now serves as the Director of the Royal Forest Department’s Forest Protection and Fire Control Bureau.

Officials from the Forest Protection Operations Centre visited Ao Sane yesterday (February 12).

Cheewapap Cheewatham, Head of the centre’s Payak Prai Forest Crime Suppression Taskforce, led his team to inspect the encroached waterfall opposite the Ao Sane luxury property construction that was ordered to be suspended last year.

On hand were the Deputy Director General of Department of Forestry, Internal Security Operations Command Area 4 Chief, DSI and Rawai Municipality Officials.

This is turning into quite an interesting story about how much the various government agencies can extract from  owner or builder.

I wonder what is their idea of 'nice' worker shacks.

Just bring in  large crane and tear this eyesore down.

Geezer

At least a finished property will look reasonable. The way this is panning out the view will be of a building site for the foreseeable future. Though tearing down the whole thing and clearing the debris is definitely the most aesthetically preferable option.

Maybe this project is earmarked for someone high up.....certainly a prime site!

Notable as construction commenced at a time when many other buildings and unauthorised additions were torn down back in 2014.
