Woman arrested for shooting ‘abusive’ son-in-law

By The Nation

A Phitsanulok woman has been arrested for allegedly gunning down her son-in-law who she said liked to beat her daughter and grandson.

Uthai Phaisee, 62, waited for police with a shotgun in her arms at her house in Ban Kaeng Kula in Tambon Kaeng Sopha of Phitsanulok’s Wang Thong district at 1pm on Thursday.

She allegedly shot Suthat Saenprasert, 39, twice while he was lying and watching TV on his bed. He was dead when police arrived.

Suthat’s wife, Wassana Phaisee, 41, said her mother was angered that Suthat rarely worked and often quarrelled with his wife and beat both her and her son.

Wassana said when she and her mother returned home from selling fruit jam in the village in the afternoon and found that Suthat was still lying down and watching TV, her mother lost her temper, grabbed the shotgun and fired it at him.
