money changer not taking British paper ten pound notes

Featured Replies

Currently in BKK and tried to change some paper ten pound notes before they go out of circulation but could not.  The money changes will only take the new acrylic ones.

Thanks for letting us know .

What will you be having for lunch ?

This has been mentioned in another topic already just a few days ago. So now you have one week to bring them to the UK and exchange them before they are worthless

No.  they can be changed at UK banks for a long time to come just  not as currency at shops etc.

this is hardly surprising as the paper £10 notes cease to become legal tender on 1 march, this has been well publicised and everyone has had plenty of time to get rid of expiring notes. if you haven't you can return old notes to the bank of england and receive  new notes or you can pay old notes into your bank account in the uk. obviously money exchanges dont want the hassle dealing with these old notes, common sense really.

They will never be worthless, the Bank of England will always exchange them in the UK.

Sorry to jump on the bandwagon here :

But, can you cash £1 coins in as well ?, my father has a stash in his house !!

Of course i meant the old style pound coins that went out of circulation recently.

Yes. Most banks will still accept them for deposit.

Sorry - we were completely off topic and talking about one pound coins and depositing them in a UK bank.
