Is there an arsenal bar/pub as such anywhere in bangkok?

I live in banglamphu area and I always had to go to bloody khao san road to watch on a big screen last season - had True at home but not the same atmosphere as a pub.

I'd stick to watching them at home, just get the dog,cat and missus to watch with you and make a few sounds and your think your at the Emirates.

Footnote : the dog would probaly make more sense than gets spoken at the Library cheesy.gif

It all sells....Cavani tales are the worst.

Mind you have bought the new sicknote. biggrin.png

We bought Vieira off his sickbed.

And he was a better player than you've had since Danny Blanchflower (with the medals to prove it).

biggrin.png

really!! better than gazza and greaves, dont think so somehow. and tbh maybe he's be fit to tie brady's bootlaces, but that is a maybe.biggrin.png

Yes, better than Gazza and Greaves, there's no room for pissheads in modern football, it's a much more physically demanding game these days.

And - again - he's got the medals to prove it.

I still laugh at Gazza's last FA cup outing....

Not that I know of. If I'm staying in Bangkok on match day I usually go down Sukhumvit somewhere and brush the flies off (barflies that is). I'll post next time I'm around on matchday and maybe a few of us can meet up to go to some pub or other.

Cue more boring comments about libraries from Spuds.

Yippee - will be back in Thailand next week. I don't have cancer after all - it's a long story, so I'll just say always seek a second opinion if a specialist recommends cutting you up - and I'm talking about the UK, not (just?) Thailand!

Thanks Rijiit.

If the Sportsman is the one on the north side of Suk, somewhere nearish Ekkamai, no not yet. Is it a recommendation? Multi-screen? Would hate to have to 'negotiate' what shows with a bunch of tattooed chav monkeys!

Have been to most of the western style pubs and sports bars in the entertainment area over my 25 years visiting Bangkok, but it's not normally my favoured style and can never remember which ones are which

Recommendation?, Ii'm not really a drinker or a major bar dweller, but for 'big games' the atmosphere was good, getting there 20 mins or so b4 k/o, would be a plus, you could ALWAYS get a seat and get a reasonable view , but some are, obviously better than others but it aiint full of baying drunken <deleted> but on the other hand it aint cut glass and trendy either, overall I thought it was an ok bar. And the management and staff were good.I went there for a couple of thai football launch's and sort of stuck if theirs a fault its a lack of day light, but IMO no big loss in thailand. I was spoilt totally with thai food, but their foods bearable. Is it On the north side? its on the same side as the emporium, i used to walk up from there.and its set back off the main road by about 50 ish yards.

They had 2? big projector screens individually rigged up in the lobby entrance, which is open, so smokers r a pain, one? projector screen inside and reasonable sound , numerous tv's, some around 5/6?pool tables,WHICH by the way ARE V DECENT, and some directly looking onto the bar, most are rigged individually, so you choose what to watch, ii used to watch thai footie, which everyone found amusing!!!, As i said It aint full of drunken <deleted> and bar girls arnt tolerated, so all in all, i found it did the job.

was looking at the web site 2 c about the nearest skytrain,,, and seems they've changed location, and tbh haven't been to the new one

http://www.sportsbarbangkok.com/index.php/en/contact

On Soi 13 now. I've been there a few times. An OK place I suppose, but without much atmosphere.

I prefer Gulliver's for football watching. Tons of TVs, pool tables, the food is OK, and what bargirls are around know to behave themselves.

On the other hand, I'm sure there's lots of places I haven't been.

No I haven't been wooed into supporting Leeds Smokie.

I'm looking forward to next season. Seems to be lots of Gooners on the boards getting worried that the signing season is going to be 'a repeat of previous years'. They seem to forget that last Summer was a triumph for Wenger, given the Board's (slightly disingenuous IMO) belief that they were still in Emirates pay-off territory. Park that bit on one side and for the money made available Giroud shows every sign of being a very good buy and Cazorla was an outstanding buy.

The clear out of tat has been much quicker and more comprehensive than I would have expected. Bendtner rumoured to Germany for 3mill, Jourou on semi-perm loan, Manone to Sunderland (not tat), Arshavin, Denilson and Squillaci kicked off the payroll and maybe a few others I've forgotten. The finance director must have a spring in his step when he sits down (horrible mixed metaphor) to write up the pay cheques.

OK - so Higuain is still being negotiated - not surprising given that Juve have seemingly disappeared off that negotiating table, having signed Tevez. Rooney? Probably a side show to convince Real that Higuain aint the only show in town. OK one cheap prospect is all we have signed up: I'm glad Wenger hasn't been totally sidetracked away from his forte - picking up promise form Frnace (yeah yeah I know - Gervinho!).

It would be nice to have signed up one of the big ones already, but with the best part of 2 months to go to window closure it is ridiculously early for Gooners to be panicking.

The following posting by 'Leeds Gooner' on another popular television (think clouds) website is definitely not me ( :-) )but seems to be symptomatic of the nervous mood around:

Higuain, rooney, fellani, bender, ceaser, to name but a few. It¿s the same every season, lots of talk, but no action. What happened to? ¿We have 70 million and can compete¿ Next thing we hear is arsenal fear they may be priced out of a move for higuain and Rooney. same old same old, throw a few big names about, sell a few more season tickets, make a couple of last minute mediocre signings and pray the god wenger works his magic and gets them into the champions league again. Been a gooner for 16 years and am sick of excuses, sick of 4th best. It¿s high time the powers that be at arsenal start backing wenger and spending big. my worst fear is that the board wont realize this till it¿s too late and we fail to qualify for the champions league, by then the likes of Tottenham Everton and Liverpool will have taken over us, along with the 2 Manchester teams and Chelsea, we will have all on to qualify for the Europe league. Anyone know if the intertoto cup is still going? May be our best shot!! Leeds gooner

I got told about it in chang mai, bout a friends friend was stayin and got told they wernt allowed to swim in the pool cos they were black , but tbh, never crossed my mind that it would happen in bangkok

I wouldn't worry about it Santi. Remember the old saying: Empty Vessels make the most noise.

Arsenal fans talking about other teams' pisshead players. How amusing. So lets add to the list a player a plater not worthy of cleaning Gazza's boots, a total bell end where the words <deleted> and pisshead could always appear in the same sentence along with gormless numnutts and degenerate gambler, i give you Paul Mersonwhistling.gif

Why would they even bother with 30 Million? I wonder what the thought process is, "try 30, they might go for it"?

Suarez wouldn't move to the Library anyway, its an empty vessel right chi coq and plus, he wants to win something and i doubt he believes Wenger when he says that top four is the same as winning a trophybiggrin.png

You do know the newspapers make stuff up, don't you?

<deleted> would Wenger want with a psychopathic striker who can't play until November?

More to the point, 25 million supposedly gets them Higuain, so why would they bother?

There's comedy value in the red tops at this time of year.

Apparently Higuain plans, instead of a traditional medical, to do a song and dance routine based on an old Rolf Harris classic.....
