Heard the term 'bird brain'?

Habit rules all so unless you can break a 237 million year old habit of resting/nesting in nice places, pigeons will abound. Kill a few, annoy a few with rubber things (try inflated condoms), fake cannon shots (sure to annoy the neighbors), wire mesh all will be met with temporary success as next generation of bird brains has the exact same habit as old generation.

But frankly i do sympathize as i also do not like the pigeon shit on my balcony.

You don’t need to eradicate them, you only need to relocate them.

Very tasty in pies....so the chinese visitors here tell me.........

They are very tasty - my Mum used to cook them a lot - in red wine with small onions and mushrooms- we had to watch out for lead shot - as they were wood pigeons .

Would not recommend the ‘town’ pigeons.

Im sure have seen those spikes in some big DIY places- maybe Lazada?

Posion always a bad idea

"Eliminate the SOURCE of the pigeons interest". I thought I had done that by getting all the entrances to my house blocked off, so they must be nesting elsewhere and returning just to annoy me, there is no source of food, so poisoning has to be the last resort.

I bought an airsoft gun, hit one pigeon with it, and now it does not work.

You are NOT supposed to hit the pigeons with an Airsoft gun, you are supposed to use it to shoot at them although it will not kill them - insufficient power.

Maybe someone nearby is feeding their pets on their balcony... or they just have a mess on their balcony that's attractive to pigeons? You are correct that they may be using empty balconies to roost but the buggers have to eat as well. If there's something edible nearby, they'll use your balcony as a waiting room... or to rest after gorging somewhere else.

Tougher solutions in this regard. Apart from making their regular roosting spots unusable; spikes are unsightly but in lieu of (imported) sticky gels, I have found that a couple of pieces of string running closely parallel along the top of their chosen roosting ledges and secured with simple masonry nails at each end is less obtrusive but stops them landing. In another instance, a simple length of 1/2" blue pvc water pipe laid along the top of the ledges stopped them landing. They also don't like optical distractions and a friend had success with some lengths of old Christmas tree tinsel along the roosting spots. Drop-down, mostly transparent vertical blinds maybe? Again, there's the black or green colored, slotted plastic screening that is available in garden shop departments. That netting option from cheeryble sounds pretty good.

Stuffed cats or crows may have a short-term effect as pigeons may get used to their inactivity.

Get a real cat.

A feral cat adopted us a few years ago she now patrols the roof ours is about the only pigeon free area in the Moo Baan. ?

Yes, that's true, I hit one with a slingshot as well and they just flew away.

You are not going to like me for saying this, but if I could get hold of an air pistol with metal pellets, I would shoot to kill them, only because of the damage they are doing. I do not know where they are nesting, but it is not in any part of the house, maybe the surrounding trees, but they do keep trying to nest on my motorbike, and shit all over the place, and I have had as much as I can take from them.

Yeah, pay no attention to nutty suggestions. Get a cat trap, not a pigeon trap. Trap feral cat, release into enclosed space, feed regularly at first, then start skipping meals randomly. Ignore hateful looks from cat, it's not paid to like you. If it gets out and doesn't come back, trap another cat.

Ordinary rat bait works, but kills fish and pets. Bread with calcium carbide in it will not kill your pets, but makes the pigeon blow up in mid air.

That's a new one, where will I get it, at a pharmacist?

I love cats, they will never harm me, so I won't harm them.

No idea, in Thailand, don't think anyone uses it any more.

You're not harming it, you're providing a low-wage job to an unemployed Siamese.

HomePro sells several varieties of plastic mesh and chicken wire. I tried a plastic kind, but it fell apart in the sunshine. My second try was a one-inch metal mesh. It's green, so not bad-looking. It's been in place a couple of years now, doing the trick. Don't forget the zip ties for fastening it to the railings.

Ive had regular cheap netting up and in the sun for years now.
It’s white but ive since realised that.......counterintuitively......black mosquito screen is less visible from inside than white. But the white's fine, not intrusive.

Please tell us what damage they are doing?

Are they smashing your windows, destroying your house brick by brick, attacking you, eating your woodwork or munching down on your potted plants?

Pigeons do not nest in trees or on motorbikes.   They nest in cavities in buildings or on ledges under an overhang... like they would in their natural habitat of cliffs and caves.

I think you don't know what a pigeon is.  Do you mean the spotted necked doves?

It would seem impossible for these small doves to destroy or damage anything.  These doves are much smaller than pigeons, they have a long tail also.

If you really have huge piles of pigeon crap plastering your house and motorbike and damage to your property, then please take some photos and show us on here.

It just sounds like you are fixating on some small doves to get a kick out of killing or injuring them for no reason other than their mere presence annoys you.

Why is is difficult to understand some people don’t like pigeons crapping all over.

Its not difficult to understand if there really is a problem.

I suspect in this case the OP does not have any problem except seeing the birds walking on the ground outside his house.

Why is that hard for you to understand?  Lets see some proof of the serious mess the birds are making before we start suggesting he shoot them, poison them and trap them.

Pretty easy to bait and trap them, but if people are feeding them it’s a no win situation.

Make sure you keep the nests knocked down, they’ll get the message.

Not true, they keep trying to build nests on my motorbike under the cover, I keep clearing it away, but they still keep doing it.

What a load of nonsense, I enjoy these other birds, they are not the nuisance pigeons are.

Enclosed space? What about getting a pet cat or snake?

I already have a cat, but it is never near that enclosed space, the pigeons are never around after dark when the cat is mostly out.

The topic title is 'Getting rid of pigeons' Anything else is off topic trolling and will be removed.

Plastic pigeon spikes can be purchased at the 60baht store next to Fly Now if you are in Pattaya, they do not always work very well, the pigeons sit on them fill them with twigs and make a nest, any directly in the sun go brittle and the spikes fall off.

Rat poison does not work they don't eat it.

Sunflower Doogie works where you can spray it only.

A Hand full of granite chipping thrown in their direction only works for five minutes and then they are back.

So what else can be done to get them to move on?

An intellectual friend of mine passed the following infallable information.

Corn or peas or suchlike threaded on to a piece of fishing gut five or six inches long at half inch intervals and knotted at each end.

After eating this he says he never sees them again.
