The national police chief said Sunday that the conflict between the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plants Conservation and the police team handling the illegal wildlife hunting case against Italian-Thai boss Premchai Karnasuta was normal and it should be resolved soon.

Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda also said that there was no need to replace Pol Gen Srivara Rangsibrahmanakul, the deputy national police chief, who oversees the police team handling the case because there was nothing wrong with the team and Pol Gen Srivara had been doing his job in a straightforward manner.

The police chief said further that he was not worried with the criticism in the social media against Pol Gen Srivara for allegedly delaying the case and biased in favour of the Italian-Thai boss.

Well, he’s not lying, is he? This is absolutely normal for Thailand. In a civilized country, this is blatant corruption and lies, but in Thailand, it really is normal.

I bet Premchai can’t believe this is all happening. He must be pretty annoyed he’s been thrown under the bus to take attention away from another fat old corrupt man.

Did Premchai return from his 'business trip' as promised yesterday?

It is the BiB's reputation on the line.  The rangers did their job and brush aside any and all bribes.  We can only hope the BiB and take this rare occasion and redeem themselves.

'Conflict is normal'- says it all, normally law enforcement agencies work together in countries to secure prosecutions and convictions,. Here its about getting people off.

I see the latest is claims that DNA samples are contaminated. Any competent  (and non-corrupt) technicians would have taken multiple samples in order to counter such an event.

Yes, now the DNA results implicate two Burmese chaps.

Just kidding.

It was the ingredients used to cook Premchai's Panther Penis Porridge which "contaminated" the DNA samples.

Really? One way of explaining the deputy national police chief taking a three-hour trip, just to visit the fat little poacher, then.

... as the polluted air at this time of the year, or the figures of accident victims all around the year. So, nothing needs to be done ...

Yeah it will be resolved... 30 park rangers against half a million police who's gonna win?

There seem to be two 'sides' battling each other in this case

A power-struggle - but I've no doubt premchai won't see a day in jail.

I remember reading about an old couple jailed for gathering mushrooms in a national park,i believe the world media are watching this, and wont they go beserk when he gets off,,,

They got 5 years. Just extrapolating, Premchai should get 50 years.

Why would he replace him? Then he would only expose another corrupt official to public viewing and further expose just how deep the corruption of the police force runs. Better to have to cut off one finger than a whole hand if the thing blows up.

I still hold out hope for justice.
