This is the moment a brazen thief steals a bag at a market in Phuket.

Grainy footage shows thief, who appears to be of Western appearance, wearing a black hat and black black t-shirt.

He’s sat behind a table of four people who are eating. Placed on a stool next to them is the black bag the thief steals.

Throughout the 4 minute, 49 second clip, the thief can be seen acting suspiciously, appearing to speak on his phone as he waits for the moment he can steal the bag.

In the video, the man can be seen stealing the bag from around 4 minutes 25 seconds.

Once he steals the bag, the thief hides it under his jacket, stands up and brazenly walks away.

The incident, which took place at Bangla market in Patong, Phuket, was caught on CCTV, with the footage shared to a local Facebook group, along with an appeal for information as to the identity of the thief.

Scumbag, that was not a spur of the moment theft, he was looking for something to steal. His actions during the whole clip were shifty, watching/looking around just pretending to use his phone.

  • A professional a__hole to be exact....Needs his nose rearranged...

If he was wearing an electronic wristband he'd be in custody now!

They must have had their CCTV camera well concealed for him not to see it as he was continually scanning his surroundings. The CCTV was practically focused on him.

Body language all wrong, nothing, not even a drink on his table. I thought the girl on the right in the group had him figured out twice, but she seemed to disregard him.

Still, shows how easy it can be when you let your guard drop for even seconds. Although the video is a bit grainy, the police should be able to pick this scumbag up pretty quickly. Here's hoping.

That guy needs free accomodation at the Bangkok Hilton.

Seems a bit expensive according to Trip Advisor.  The local jail would be much more appropriate compared to a 4 star hotel in BKK>

Most probably filmed by one of his mates who dropped him in it and thought it was funny.:cheesy:

The camera seemed focused that well on him, you might just be right.

Lucky we have no brazen Thai thieves to worry about.

CCTV playback its possible to zoom in and view the playback.
You can see the timers at the base of the screen.
Cellphone recording playback from a monitor.

wow.......sat there looking shifty for a long time.

once I thought he was going for it and both the girls looked around.

the actual execution of taking it was quite good in the end.

These 4 fellows could be enjoying their very first visit to this country and thought it is a very safe and peaceful Buddhist country.

And stupid comment, Tossa!

How much do you think he can get this way. Typical Thai lucky to have 1000b. Risk 5 years or deportation for a few thousand. Stupid man.

The kind of tourist that Thai immigration likes to have, it will have no problem getting a non-b visa: D

Surprised about the TG on the right, she certainly considered the farang to be a bit dodgy as she looked at him a couple times to check him out, if her suspicions were aroused you'd think she'd have moved that bag away....I certainly would have done so in that situation. Anyway, dumb bastard farang, as someone already said there's not likely to be much in the bag, a few hundred baht perhaps. He's risking all sorts of nasty things for a few hundred baht.
